I was so glad I found this restaurant. It was a short walk from Le Meridien.
I should be writing three reviews as I ate here three nights in a row. I was so impressed with the first night that I kept coming back for more.
Gianmarco welcomed me as I entered the restaurant. I did not have a reservation, he was able to seat me. It was like being welcomed into someone’s home. The service was great and the food was outstanding.
First night I started with a bottle of red wine and ordered the eggplant starter. It came in a ramekin and was seasoned well. There was different cheeses in the dish that went really well with the eggplant. My next dish was a cacio de Pepe. Gianmarco suggested I add fried artichokes to it. Chef Eduardo came out and mixed the pasta at my table. He elegantly plated the dish for me. It was incredible. The mixture of the sauce and pasta with artichokes was incredible. Desert was almond cookies with a sweet wine. The cookies and wine paired well together. I was given limoncello to try. They make it in-house and was very drinkable. I was so impressed with the service and my meal, I made a reservation for the following night.
Dinner number 2 was great. Started off with some Prosecco, then a bottle of Pinot Noir. They had a fish special of a fish porridge. I decided to try that with the lemon linguine. They brought me out a bruschetta to enjoy while I was waiting. The combination of tomato, anchovy and capers Worked very well on the toasted bread. The fish porridge was simple and tasty. It was polenta with a seafood broth and pieces of local caught seafood. The lemon fettuccine was outstanding. They served it in a half, lemon rind. The pasta had lemon flavor without being over powering. Dessert was a lemon cake with whipped topping. It was so flavorful and creamy. Gianmarco suggested Pairing it with some rum. It was a great suggestion. The final delight of the night was the limoncello.
I had one more night in Rome, I told them I’d see them the next day for dinner.
Dinner number 3 was delicious. Started the meal with some Prosecco, a bottle of Pinot Noir. They gave me a fried pizza appetizer. It was fried dough, topped with cheese and sauce. It was really good. I ordered the fried seafood and carbonara with short pasta. The fried seafood was cooked and seasoned perfectly. There was a good combination of baby octopus, shrimps, fried fish and squid. The carbonara with the short noodles was a good choice. The tubes soaked in the sauce. They brought me a sausage with polenta and sauce to taste. It was so rich and creamy. I could have licked the plate. Dessert was tiramisu paired with some grappa.
Chef Eduardo and Gianmarco thanked me for having my meals with them.
I’d highly recommend...
Read moreGreat, cozy but elegant atmosphere restaurant with excellent service and best of all...Amazingly delicious Italian food I have ever had! I visited Italy with a friend for the first time and Rome was by far the best experience I had. After a long day of touring the Vatican City, we wanted to find a good place to dine in and our hotel suggested that we try Pallazzaccio Da Eduardo Ristorante. And so we decided to go for it. As soon as we get to the doorstep, we were greeted with such a warm welcome by Gianmarco! He did a great job explaining what's on the menu, the specials and the different types of wines to pair with. He is very detailed and makes good recommendations if you ask him. Very accommodating as well since we don't speak Italian at all. So we ordered a couple of dishes on the menu and I, in particular got curious and wanted to try their Lemon Cream Pasta for the first time and boy...it was amazingly good! We also tried the shrimps (fresh from the sea). One type was raw the other was grilled. And of course, both were delicious in their own way and the wine to top it off and the dessert and the rest was all undeniably so good! I was literally in awe as soon as I had my first taste of each dish. Eduardo is such a talented chef and owner and passionate about his cooking. Passion meets art=Pefection!. We got meet and chatted with him towards the end of our dinner which was a real treat! After visiting different cities for a week in Italy, we headed back to Rome and came back again to the restaurant for a celebratory dinner for our last night. We wanted to make it extra special so we ordered their tasting menu/five course meal...Again, it was all so so amazingly good that we had to take our time and enjoy and savor each and every dish for last!!! The tasting menu is definitely not to miss!! Thank you Eduardo for making our last night in Rome extra special with all the amazingly delicious great dinner you serve for us!. I highly recommend your place and I will definitely come back next time soon. Shout out to Gianmarco who is great at what he does. Loves his job and does it with pride and joy. The other guy Mojito (? I hope I got the name right) who comes to every table and serve with a smile. Sara-it was a pleasure to meet you and we were glad we get to chat with you as well on our last night. and finally Ruben- it was nice to meet you too. Thank you all for welcoming us at your restaurant. It was an experience I will never forget. I feel blessed and lucky to have a full experience not just with the great food but all of you as well. And finally I will sure enjoy the Limoncello! It came home with me safe and sound!...
Read moreWatch out or you'll get overcharged on daily specials. We received an exorbitant bill of €240 as a table of 2.
We placed our trust in our waiter who showed us the catch of the day, suggested we get the gamberi rossi and seabass steak and dissuaded us from ordering from the normal menu. Our waiter did not confirm the prices with us when we agreed with his suggestions. We should've taken a closer look at the prices on the blackboard which, after taking a closer look in hindsight, were written as /Hg and not /kg (effectively, making everything 10x more expensive than written, blackboard photo provided alongside the prawns). Our first surprise was when two portions of seabass steaks came out instead of one, but we didn't say anything or send it back because we really trusted our waiter. However, there was an even bigger surprise when the bill arrived.
This restaurant has previously responded to negative reviews about prices. They claimed that all prices are shown, but this was not true in our experience. If the restaurant responds to my review, my message remains: be careful of ambiguous prices if you choose to dine here.
These are serious statements so for full transparency, I have uploaded a photo of our bill and what we were served, this is a breakdown:
💸 = Items that were overpriced
5.00 – Bread and olive oil
100.00 💸 – 2 Seabass steaks (you can see the size in the photo), 150g pasta each (16 per 100g on the seabass which is expensive for seabass, but no price shown on blackboard for the pasta)
75.00 💸 – 300g Gamberi Rossi, we were served 4 gamberi rossi and 5 blue belly prawns. €25/Hg is €250/kg which is 4-5x the price you would normally pay at a restaurant for these prawns, not even considering wholesale pricing.
12.00 – Dolce della cassa
15.00 💸 – 3 tiny scoops of icy gelato
3.00 – Acqua
15.00 💸 – Glass of white wine
15.00 💸 – Glass of sparkling white wine
There were only prices for the bottles of wine, wine by the glass was not shown on the menu at all, so we had to ask if they served by-the-glass and only found out the prices when the bill came.
We were also served a plate of homemade chocolate cookies and limoncello as a digestif at the end of the meal, we are grateful that these did not appear on the bill.
I don't like writing negative reviews, but I have shared this in hopes that others can avoid being slapped with a huge bill by...
