Of all the restaurants I visited on my trip to Rome Italy this was the first & last. I found it because it was close to my hotel which was not in the tourist area and my wife wanted fried whole fish. Fried whole fish is not a thing in Italy but the owner understood the request and made it happen ~ absolutely delish! The restaurant has a very family feel and the locals are the majority of their clientele, not so much tourists. The rest of my trip we tried restaurants everywhere and they were all extremely too touristsy with people trying to get you to sit down and eat. All the restaurants had the same generic meals and just overall tourist trap vibe to them. Our last day in Tome my wife wanted a whole fried fish again. Nobody had it available and didn’t understand or want to make it. We decided to go back to this sand restaurant. The owner remembered us from the 1st visit and treated us even better than family, showing us the photos on the wall and trying to explain the photos in Italian as much as they could. We me the brothers and wife and laughed at their jokes. They made us another entire fried fish absolutely perfect with their delicious spaghetti carbonara. The second time I tried the tiramisu for dessert and OMG , it was the best tiramisu I ever had in my life!!! I highly highly recommend this small family restaurant away from all the touristy spots. This one is a real taste of Italy and the owners are wonderful! Overall spent around $100 on dinner for 2 (way cheaper than Orlando Fl USA) do we tipped them $50 for their service, laughs and warm...

The fried calamari was made fresh which was delightful however it was extremely salty, honestly it didn't need any salt.
I requested tomato sauce to dip it in and the older gentleman gave me a funny look like I was asking for something strange. Do people in Italy not use any sort of dipping sauce? If they don't, they're missing out.
He did however bring the tomato sauce shortly after and it was by far some of the best I've ever tasted - should be part of the menu.
This continued with the veal, it was just a piece of meat on a plate. Not sure why there wouldn't be anything to dip it in but here we are.
The pasta was good, different type of tomato sauce, less intense is the best way to describe it from the side dish I got.
The line of chairs to the single bathrooms is interesting, but I guess this place doesn't get too busy due to the staggered hours...
Read moreWe decided to indulge a bit at Ristorante La Casetta, and it truly lived up to the rave reviews. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but what you're investing in is culinary artistry. Every dish, from the fried octopus starter to the expertly cooked beef and veal steaks, was impeccable. My steak was cooked just as I requested, medium-rare, and each bite was heavenly. What set the experience apart was our attentive waiter, who not only guided us through the menu but also showcased the raw ingredients, enhancing our appreciation. A top-notch, upscale dining experience in Rome that...
