Samurai Ramen — Restaurant in Rome

If you’re nearby and in the mood for ramen, it’s worth a visit – but I wouldn’t travel out of the way for it. The ramen was tasty overall, but the broth lacked depth of flavour. It was quite simple, not the rich and creamy tonkotsu-style broth you’d expect from an authentic Japanese ramen spot. The egg was perfectly boiled, which was a nice touch, but the addition of carrots felt a bit out of place.

Premetto che il ramen, i ravioli e il cibo provato era tutto buonissimo. Il problema è stato il servizio scortese, disattento e poco professionale. In primis abbiamo prenotato per l’orario di apertura, le ore 19. Arrivati nel minuscolo locale, chiaramente deserto, ci volevano sistemare al centro con tutti i tavoli addossati. Al che ho fatto notare che avendo tutto il minuscolo locale a disposizione, desideravamo sistemarci sui margini vicino la finestra (così da evitare quella sensazione claustrofobica che il ristorante ti trasmette). Dopo tante resistenze dovute a fantomatiche prenotazioni che non abbiamo potuto constatare nella successiva ora, siamo stati assecondati malgrado la faccia appesa e contrariata della cameriera. In seguito servizio lento, disattento, ravioli da dividere senza portare un piattino di supporto. Ma il motivo del malcontento sul servizio è giunto al momento del dolce. Dopo aver ordinato i mochi arrivano delle palline ghiacciate e cristallizzate impossibili da scalfire. Al che abbiamo chiamato la cameriera che con evidente indolenza ci ha risposto che era chiaro avessero quella consistenza, si trattava comunque di gelato. Ora, a parte che per il costo esoso del prodotto, mi aspetto che sia fresco e preparato quasi al momento. Comunque anche se per esigenze organizzative lo metti nel congelatore almeno abbi l’accortezza di lasciarlo ammorbidire prima di servirlo in tale condizione, immangiabile. Il mio consiglio: cambiate il personale ai tavoli e più attenzione ai paganti. Il cibo servito è importante ma non è l’unico aspetto da curare per rendere...

I was positively surprised by Samurai’s ramen! I am a big fan of tonkotsu, which unfortunately they do not have in their menu. Because of that I had never given their ramen a try; and now I regret that life decision. The ramen soup itself was okay (a 6), but the toppings and the home-made pasta were just incredible (and elevated the whole dish, making it special).
