Zeldina — Restaurant in Rome

We came here because it is across the street from our hotel. The service was slow, even for European standards. The food was just ok. Over salted pasta. Average pizza. When it came time for the bill, the waitress told us the credit card machine was broken and asked us to pay with cash. So we paid cash. We were one Euro short because that was all the cash we had. Then, as we were leaving, our waitress was charging another customer's credit card. We asked her why she had told us the machine was broken, and she responded she couldn't understand our English, so we left the cash on the counter. Then the other waiter came out yelling at us because we didn't pay them the one euro. We told him the situation and said we would be happy to pay with credit since the machine is clearly working. Then he backed off and took the cash (and avoided the credit card transaction fees and the tracking of the money, which we would guess is the point). Obviously, this place runs a cash scam. It particularly irks me that they tried to pull this on my father, who is in his late 70s....

I only ate here as was close to my hotel after a long day in central Rome, found this place by accident, wish i hadn't though, i walked in and was greeted nicely, was sat outside as i requested, asked if i wanted water, i said yes, waited about 10mins before anyone came to my table to bring menu and water, once i ordered a starter (prosciutto) and carbonara as wanted to try authentic Italian pasta, and a beer, waiter came to tell me they had no prosciutto left, no problems, waited a long time for carbonara which when it came it looked and tasted like mac n cheese, very small portion, spaghetti was hard and under cooked, i ate it though as was 1030pm, I ended up going to counter to pay, didn't receive my beer either, must have been about 10 people in restaurant when i got there, so not sure why not...

“Zeldina” – la cena più cara… per restare affamata!

Entrando in questo locale, la prima impressione è ottima: ambiente curato, esteticamente piacevole, caldo e accogliente. Sembrava la premessa perfetta per una serata piacevole. Purtroppo, è stata un’illusione che si è infranta molto presto.

Sono andata da sola, in una serata di svago e tempo libero. Ho ordinato un piatto di Ravioli stuffed with cheese alla cacio e pepe, un tortino al cioccolato e una bottiglia d’acqua naturale. I ravioli erano buoni di sapore, nulla da dire sul condimento, ma la porzione è stata imbarazzante: nel piatto c’erano soltanto quattro ravioli. Non quattro cucchiaiate, non quattro bocconi… quattro ravioli contati.

Il dolce, che pensavo potesse riscattare la cena, è stato un’ulteriore delusione. Quando ordino un tortino al cioccolato mi aspetto un dolce soffice, con un cuore morbido e avvolgente, non una schiacciata piatta che sembrava quasi una versione mal riuscita di quello che dovrebbe essere.

La sorpresa finale è arrivata al momento del conto: 44€ per una cena che mi ha lasciata letteralmente affamata. Non solo non mi sono saziata, ma appena uscita ho dovuto andare in un altro locale per poter finalmente mangiare qualcosa di più consistente.

La qualità del cibo, al netto delle porzioni ridicole, non giustifica in alcun modo un prezzo simile. Puoi avere l’ambiente più curato del mondo, ma se il cliente esce insoddisfatto, con la fame e con la sensazione di essere stato preso in giro, non ci sarà alcun motivo per farlo tornare.

Per quanto mi riguarda, in questo locale non metterò mai più piede e lo sconsiglio vivamente a chiunque pensi di andare per mangiare bene e sentirsi sazio: rischiate di pagare caro… per restare con lo...
