Located in Scala, a hidden jewel on the amalfi coast, at this restaurant we had the best dinner we had during our entire trip to Italy this past May/June. The atmosphere was great here sitting outside in the piazza. There were kids playing soccer to our left and old men playing cards in the coffee shop. I ate here with my family, 7 of us in all plus a bambino. And when we showed up without reservations the place was closed for the night. We asked around for another place and when they found out we were looking to eat they opened the restaurant back up, turned the lights on and fed us the tastiest meal we had in Italy, with the best service, great wine, and the best time. I have nothing but good things to say about our meal. Everything tasted so fresh and each plate was beautiful I love this place. Another cool thing about this piazza is that there is a 9/11 memorial and a statue in it. We were told one of the builders of the twin towers is from Scala, being from New York State this was emotional to come across so...
Read moreWe came here for dinner after a disappointing (and unfortunately stomach-upsetting) lunch at a luxury restaurant in Amalfi. This small-town restaurant, already well-rated, welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality.
From the moment we arrived, the service made us feel like special guests. I believe it’s a small, family-run business — and their passion truly shines through in every dish. The veal steak with lemon marinade was absolutely amazing, and the Diavola pizza was just perfect. For starters, we had octopus, which was beautifully presented and delicious. We finished the meal with a lemon cake that was wonderfully fresh and full of flavor.
The attached pictures might not fully reflect how beautifully everything was served — we started eating before realizing just how good the food was!
Overall, this place deserves far more attention than it has. We truly enjoyed the food, the warm service, and the fair prices. A lovely, heartfelt dining experience that turned...
Read moreQuiet little spot in Scala, poor service from the young waiter & mixed scores on the food.
There were 2 waiters on tonight, one who knew the meaning of customer service & a 17 yr old with a lot to learn. Glasses were banged down on tables, no acknowledgement, no follow up on how the food was, not offered more drinks when glasses were empty a while, no eye contact, no smile & no dessert offered…
Food wise we read amazing things so had high hopes but sadly we were disappointed on this front too. The tagliatelle with lemon sauce & muscles was fine but the bolognaise was awful, pasta undercooked - we know what all denté is… (we have Italian family!!) and this wasn’t it… crunch! Also - so much salt in what was a watery bolognaise sauce. We needed water but weren’t offered that either!!!
We might have tried dessert but it took so long for the mains to be cleared & no dolce menu was presented …so we paid our €51 and...
