Ristorante Glauco - Terrazza sul mare dal 1947 — Restaurant in Scilla

The only nice thing about the restaurant is the location (but there are better ones in the same village). Staff trying to make you spend as much money as possible, but without offering proper service or at least quality food in return.. The food was tasteless, no salt or pepper was offered. Definitely the worst pesce spada I have ever ate, dry, tasteless, and redicolously thin 5mm steak.. It couldn't be more obvious that owners try to save as much money as possible whilst having rather high prices, even for a touristic area. Another incredible thing was that although we booked a table on the open terrace on purpose (as we are smokers), we were told by the waiter not to smoke (never heard anything like that anywhere in Italy). After we finished the dinner and paid we spoke about the food to the waiter (in a form of suggestion that they could put spices on the table etc cause he didn't offer them nor he asked if everything was okay with the food). He said sorry but as if he didn't care at all about our opinion at all, just the money we paid. A good waiter would have at least offer us an espresso or a small amaro to make it up just a little bit for us and save his own face but he did not even try. I'm normally extremely satisfied with food in Calabria, but that was the worst meal (being also the most expensive) and the least professional service I have experienced in the region.....

Had dinner over a gorgeous sunset at Glauco right before Easter week-end. Didn’t have any booking but we arrived early enough to get a table on the sea. The atmosphere is upscale, I particularly liked the decorative elements with candles at the entrance, setting the tone straight away. Service was professional and pleasant, plates came at the right speed (not too rushed, not too slow). Specialty is fish, so we went for Sword fish in virgin olive oil and Amberjack, with grilled vegetables on the side. For dessert, strawberries with a little bit of fior di Latte ice cream. Quality of the products and atmosphere are indiscutable, so prices are a little higher than...

Nonostante la magnifica terrazza, tutto il resto della nostra cena era da dimenticare. Siamo stati a cena il 16 agosto. Dopo aver aspettato più di mezz'ora per ordinare, abbiamo preso antipasti e primi, ma al momento dell'ordinazione ci viene detto che per i primi non era più disponibile la pasta fresca (erano le 21), quando più di metà menù era composto da primi con pasta fresca. Arrivano gli antipasti, abbastanza deludenti, e in più nelle polpette di pesce troviamo un agglomerato di squame... immangiabili. L'antipasto all'italiana, che consisteva in una serie di verdure grigliate, era composto da appena due verdurine non condite. Dopo aver aspettato più di un'ora tra antipasti e primi, arrivano gli spaghetti ai frutti di mare...sconvolgenti. Il condimento era palesemente quello in busta surgelato. Gli altri primi, ovvero gli spaghetti alla Glauco (spaghetti, e non linguine come scritto nel menù, per " velocizzare" il servizio, come richiesto, non consigliato, dal titolare) erano un tripudio di olio con all'interno due spaghetti e condimento di pomodori secchi, lo stesso utilizzato nell'antipasto per la bruschetta e in più, nonostante il primo in questione fosse un piatto essenzialmente vegetariano, all'interno abbiamo trovato due vongole (sempre quelle surgelate di prima). Gran finale quando arriva il conto: troviamo segnato una bottiglia di vino in più, mai ordinata. Una volta fatto presente al cameriere, lui prima ribatte dicendo che una bottiglia l'aveva aperta lui al tavolo e l'altra il suo collega. Insistiamo che la bottiglia era solo una, il cameriere torna in cucina a chiedere spiegazioni e ritorna lui stesso, senza chiedere scusa, rimborsandoci del vino pagato erroneamente.... diciamo che da un ristorante del genere, dopo aver pagato un conto importante, ci aspettavamo almeno le scuse del proprietario per la "svista". Inoltre lo stesso proprietario, a fine pasto, chiede di offrirci un amaro della casa, ne prendiamo uno....ritrovato poi...
