Ristorante II Generale — Restaurant in Scilla

Unfortunately we did not have a delicious experience at II Generale as other reviewers seem to have enjoyed. If we had to pick the least enjoyable meal on our 3 week travel in Italy, sadly this would be the one.

We ordered 2 pastas. The cacaio e pepe and the black ink pasta. The cacaio e pepe was far too rich and heavy and was not so hot when it was served. The black ink pasta was also overly rich and the pasta itself was not al dente. We also ordered the grilled vegetables which were mildly grilled.

The service however was very nice as well as the wonderful view at night overlooking the hilltop castle/church on their outside deck. It could have been an off night but for us, it was not a good...

The position of the structure is amazing, it’s literally on the sea and it’s located in the heart of the little village of Chianalea.

The structure has been recently renovated and it’s kept in good status by the owners. Food being offered in the morning is amazing, we enjoyed a good selection of cheese and salami as well as some great pastries.

Me and My husband and our two kids came here for dinner. We were seated right at the edge of the terrace on the outdoor seating. The view is spectacular and the atmosphere amazing. Our food was fresh and well tasting. We drank a nice wine with our dinner. We were overall very impressed by the food. Service was a bit slow, and we waited quite a bit for our dessert and coffee… and the cheesecake too cold/frozen.
