TRATTORIA da TURIN — Restaurant in Sestri Levante

Our dinner at Trattoria Turin was, unfortunately, a major disappointment. The service was bad. Really bad. It was honestly astonishing how many mistakes you can rack up in such a short amount of time. The wait was long to start with. Our drinks never came. Our food was served and we still didn’t have drinks. The waiter didn’t even notice that he was serving plates at a completely empty table (!) We had to point that out when he came around again (after a while). Eventually, half way through our meal, we got some (!) of our drinks. For the water, we had to ask a third time. We also had to ask for the check three times. And when we had a complaint about the food quality (more about that later), the critique was pretty much ignored. No compensation, no apology, but the mood changed: Check and change were delivered without a single word. Just unprofessional service. The food was so-so. Think: Workplace canteen food. The fish was very dry and had probably been prepared hours before and had been kept warm ever since. The potatoes were oily and soggy. That dish had not been freshly prepared. The mussels were ok, but nothing special. When pointing out that the fish was dry the critique wasn’t understood. The waiter said he would tell someone inside. That was the end of that story. Good food but let down by the service which was very hectic and slow. If you are on holiday maybe try somewhere else as didn’t offer anything distinct and special

Food: The veal was really juicy and nice. It made a nice change from lots of pasta so I would recommend. Stuffed squid was alright but my friend wouldn’t order again.

We booked via TripAdvisor at lunchtime on Saturday for dinner on Saturday. Our table ended up being in the overflow room next to the restaurant. The lighting is awful and the ambience even worse. Had we known we would have booked somewhere else. The food and wine were ok but expensive by London standards for what was served. Very disappointing. Rushed and fairly rude service, you are basically forgotten about as they serve the guests in the main restaurant. Find...
