DON LUIGI — Restaurant in Sestri Levante

We tried this restaurant because of the good reviews online. The food we ordered was relatively good compared to the restaurants in the city centre. Note that if you want the real Italian experience you should not eat at the tourist trap that is whitin the whole city centre of sestri levante. The staff was very friendly up to the point we noticed that the Italian menu had different prices for the wines compared to the english menu. Note that tourist will pay more for the wines if they receive the english menu. So if you are a tourist please ask for the Italian menucard as well to see the real prices for the wines so you wont be scammed. We told the waitress that the wine should be 21.50 euros instead of the tourist price of 23.50 euros and the reason she told us that is was because of the change of the menu.

We like to eat and pay for it but we dont like the tourist treatmen therefore we will give it a 1 star rating to inform you of a tourist trap.

This summer I had, by mistake, made a double booking at Don Luigi and one of their sister restaurants. We also tried to eat there the day before, but sent a cancellation because of delay on our activity in Cinque Terre. We were met by the owner personally, who already had been planning to confront us with why we had tried to "trick" their restaurant. He was rude and angry, and did not want to give my partner any greetings at all, as he was solely focused on me. He had personal Facebook-pictures of me on his phone and clearly had done all the background checks that you can do. After he had been shouting at us for a couple of minutes and claiming that we had used a fake phone number to trick him, he ordered us to take a sit, as nothing has happened. After we had a sit down and used two minutes on how unprofessional the owner was, we left the place. To be honest I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life at any restaurant. We are traveling Italy and found this City by accident. What a Gem! We sat out on the boardwalk area vs at the Restaraunt as they were serving there as well. We had the Ceviche, Lilly's Salad and a GF seafood pasta that's to die for!!! We are foodies and this was on the top of our list for best place to eat!!! EDIT, UPDATE. we came back with our Daughter we enjoyed the food so much. We came for lunch for pizza which ended up being soggy and mine was not good at all being gf. Would not recommend the pizza. Then we came for dinner again. The ceviche was a bit different then last time. Our seafood pasta the noodles were undercooked, so they immediately fixed it. The sauce was clearly different than last time. It was green this time, and I didn't care for it as much.
