The food at the restaurant was really good. We loved the pizzas, and they have a huge selection. If you're looking for a good pizza at a good price, you'll find it here. We also recommend that visitors not miss out on the comedy-like service. We had a reservation and were seated quickly by a somewhat grumpy waiter. But we're here for the pizza, not to make new friends. You can access the menu via a QR code on your smartphone. Usually, this isn't a problem, but with 40 pizzas, as well as an equal number of wines and beers, choosing what to eat quickly becomes an scrolling orgy. It's definitely good finger exercise. We recommend writing down your food choices; otherwise, ordering can quickly become unpleasant when you have to spend half an hour searching for the name of your chosen dish among the 300 menu items in front of the waiter. After a while, our ordered water arrived. Well, it wasn't what we wanted, but still or sparkling doesn't matter, it was quite tasty. We also ordered a beer and a Sprite. Both came in bottles, but only the beer came with a glass. The Sprite came without a glass. No problem though; we just took one from the next table. That worked too. After a short wait, our appetizer arrived and it was really good. Thirty minutes later, we had finished our drinks, but the pizza still hadn't arrived. No problem—we'll just order another beer. The beer arrived promptly. Just as I was about to hand the waitress my empty beer Glass and bottle, she turned around and walked away. I wanted to ask her if she wanted to take the empty bottle with her, but she was gone so quickly that I couldn't even finish the question. No problem, we'll just keep it here for now. An attentive waiter will take it away sooner or later...or so we thought, but the empty beer bottle and the old glass remained on our table as decoration until the end. At least we got a new beer. Twenty minutes later, our original waiter returned and asked if we had ordered pizza, to which we responded affirmatively. He then remembered which pizza we had ordered, but he couldn't remember if we had received it. When we told him we were still waiting for it, he realized something and sprinted into the kitchen. Fortunately, we were able to pass the time while waiting for the forgotten pizza by observing the table next to us. It consisted of three men who ordered wheat beer but received 0.2-liter juice glasses with their three bottles of Hefeweizen. We were highly amused by how these three gentlemen explored the three phases of wheat beer because it's difficult to fit the entire contents of a 0.5-liter bottle into a juice glass. The first glass contained only thin beer without yeast, the second was probably closest to real wheat beer, and the third contained pure yeast. As Germans, we had never experienced a restaurant offering a bottle of hefeweizen with a 0.2-liter juice glass before. It must be how Italians feel when they see pineapple on pizza in Germany. Our pizza arrived 1.5 hours after we had sat down. It was really good, as was the view. After we finished eating, I visited the restroom, which had two stalls. One of the stalls was so broken that I was worried I wouldn't be able to get out after locking the door. Since we had already been there for almost two hours, I opted for the toilet that was still somewhat functional. It was probably the right choice. The payment process at the end went quickly, and we went home amused and satisfied. Conclusion: If you're looking for delicious pizza and a great view, you'll find both here. However, take the service with a grain of salt. These are definitely not professionals. If you can laugh about it and have some time to spare, you'll have fun here. Everyone else should...
Read moreATTENTION!!! All people who speak English! Or Spanish! Or any language other than Italian! Please read this! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!!! Without a reservation, we get to the restaurant and line up for a table for two. After being told to be patient in Italian and after realizing that we don't speak Italian we got shunned. Another couple, Italian, also without reservation, walked up past us, gave the host a handshake and then got seated before us. We were told to wait. As group after group of people came in. Why did you wait you ask? I don't know... We heard the pizza was good and we didn't want to line up somewhere else. We should have. After a 20 minute wait, the host tells us to go inside for a table. Sure. Why not. We walk in and there's a table beside the washroom waiting for us. It's not clean. There's oil and crumbs all over the table. No settings. We wait for about another 5-10 minute the waitress shows up with the settings and takes our order. She never cleans the table. She puts the settings on top of the dirty table. The wine came out immediately and that's it. We waited. And waited. And waited. After 45 minutes, yes we obviously should have left, I finally go up and made angry eye contact with the waitress. She immediately realizes that we haven't got our food, runs into the kitchen and about 10 minutes later our green salad comes out. A green salad. 55 minutes for a green salad. Another 10 minutes and the pizza comes out. This is the only reason I'm giving this place two stars. The pizza was good. The service was horrible. Just horrible. 1 hour and 5 minutes for food. Not once did the waitress come in and check on us and how we were doing. There was pieces of dirty paper towel near the washroom door. Totally got the impression we were either not welcome and not important enough to be served. Sure the place was busy. It was a Saturday. Sure we didn't have reservations but couples that came in after us got served quickly. I didn't realize this until later when I turned out and saw the other couples eating. My wife is too polite to tell me this and this is why we stuck around as long as we did. Regardless. The place treated us terribly. I would not recommend this place. No food or good views on patio, which we did not receive because we were inside facing the washroom door, is worth the treatment we received. Avoid at all costs unless you speak Italian and they may give you...
Read moreThere's lots of places to eat in Siena, so I'd recommend skipping this one. The pictures speak for themselves, the gluten free pizza (Camporegio) was given absolutely no care in comparison to the regular crust (Diavola) one. The dough was not even cooked all the way, you can see how raw it is through the tomato sauce, and clearly the cheese was barely melted so it seems the oven wasn't hot enough. If they do not care about their gluten free customers then they should not offer it. This poor quality should not have been allowed to leave the kitchen, how embarrassing for the restaurant to serve it to paying customers. We would have complained and sent it back, but the servers were barely seen during the meal, only rushing by and never checking in on us.
When we were ready to leave we had to stand in a cramped space inside at the top of the cellar stairs and wait at least fifteen minutes for someone to have time to deal with us. I have included a picture so you can imagine how uncomfortable this small floor space was to wait in once even more customers crammed in to wait as well. Staff would stand to counter right across from us using the register screen and making coffee while avoiding eye contact and not acknowledging we were even standing there waiting.
I have rarely been to a restaurant where the staff acted like giving them business was an inconvenience to them,...
