My boyfriend and I were on the hunt for vegan pistacchio ice cream during our vacation. After not finding any in Firenze and Lucca we were about to give up. In Siena we didn't even bother to look for the vegan pistacchio ice cream - we just wanted one last ice cream before leaving Italy. After a quick google search this gelateria and the good reviews convinced us to pay a visit. When we entered the shop we saw a little sign on the counter listing all the vegan options and there it was... vegan pistacchio ice cream! We were ecstatic so I ordered three flavors: (ofc) pistacchio, pear and walnut. And I have to say it was the best vegan ice cream and maybe even ice cream I've ever had. Because I ordered pistacchio at first, it was the last to taste but I already knew that it'll be great because the walnut and especially the pear ones were so tasty!! I highly recommend this Gelateria and especially the vegan pistacchio flavor (my boyfriend ordered vegan dark chocolate and I have to say it was literally the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had. None of the other ice creams we've had in Italy or anywhere else is close to reaching this level of tastiness). We even went back just to tell the very nice lady that it was the best vegan ice cream we've ever tasted and that the vegan pistacchio didn't disappoint. It was even better than I imagined it to be (this is not the desperation talking, I promise you won't regret buying ice...

Cannot get over how rude the woman who works here is! I’m still in shock! The worst customer service I’ve experienced in 1 Month in Italy.

I walked in with the full intention of getting three scoops. I asked if I could try a flavor and the woman told me in a very rude voice that I could only try one. I haven’t even asked to try more than one! She was incredibly rude and dismissive of me from the start. I immediately decided I didn’t want to give my business to someone who spoke to a customer so rudely. I politely thanked her without making any complaints. As I turned to leave, she started complaining out loud about me and was basically shouting at me. I was completely shocked! The people in every other gelato shop in the city are warm and friendly -...

After a few already very satisfying gelato experiences around Tuscany my girlfriend and I went into this place full of gelato wonder, not knowing what to expect. We were greeted by a very nice lady behind the counter and what is likely the best vegan ice cream we’ve ever had. Actually no, the best ice cream we’ve ever had, period. The flavours were all natural and delicious and the texture was silky smooth and creamy. We’d especially recommend the pistachio senza latte though all of the flavours we tried were great (walnut, pear, chocolate). I wish this is what people would think of when hearing vegan ice cream.

PS: Can I learn how to make such good vegan ice...

I've been experiencing different gelato in 3 different cities in Italy in my search for the ultimate. So far, Il Masgalano takes top spot. My favourite would have to be pear, the taste was true to the name, it even had a mix of the texture of gelato with the texture of pear; life changing if you like pear and gelato. I also had the lemon custard, also exceptional, but trying to compare to the pear flavour was always going to be a challenge. After we finished, I went back and told the lady the pear was absolutely perfect, and the look of appreciation on her face was awesome. If I could inport it to Australia, I would.

We searched up gelato in Siena and there are so so many places. The price here is very reasonable. We had 5 people with media/grande cups and cones and it came to ~17 euros. We tried an assortment of fruit (melon, fruits of the forest), nuts (pistachio and nocciola), and heavier flavors (coffee and dark chocolate). We liked them all. A personal note is that the nut/coffee flavors are very creamy and the dark chocolate feels like cool liquid form of eating the chocolate. Whoa!
