Trattoria Due Piccioni — Restaurant in Stresa

This was our last meal in Stresa and it was by far our favorite meal of our trip. The menu was full of amazing choices, it was hard to choose. But each of our 4 meals were all delicious! We even ordered an extra ravioli to split between the family because it just sounded so delicious (and it was!) We ate outside and were right next to a little square where there was live music (not loud, just very enjoyable). Our server was very friendly and helpful. The food was authentic Italian (which was so wonderful to have after we fell into a tourist trap the night before and it was NOT good). I wish we’d found this place on the first night of our trip. Sono stato qualche giorno per lavoro a Stresa, e tra i diversi ristoranti che sono stato durante questa permanenza è l'unico che ho trovato soddisfacente e autentico rispetto agli altri che ho trovato troppo turistici e improntati sulla massa. Ambiente semplice ma gradevole che ti fa sentire comodo, in puro stile trattoria, con tavoli apparecchiati con semplicità, ma in linea con le aspettative. Abbiamo ordinato un antipasto, un buon prosciutto di petto d'anatra con fragole, forse un pelino freddo, sarebbe bastato qualche minuto in più fuori da frigo ma nel complesso gradevole. A seguire un tagliolino, fatto in casa, al ragù di capriolo, abbondante e molto gustoso, che ha ricordato perfettamente il tipico piatto delle osterie pre montagna, che si presentava ben condito e appetitoso. Un secondo, un buon capriolo con polenta grigliata, decisamente corposo, saporito e particolarmente indicato per la giornata piovosa che abbiamo incontrato. In ultimo due dolci, il birramisu, versione alternativa del tiramisù, che sostituisce il caffè con la birra, che ci ha particolarmente sorpreso e una torta al cioccolato gelato anche questo ultimo piatto molto buono . Da menzionate anche l'ottimo Vino scelto, un buon barbera , che ci ha accompagnato nella serata senza mai essere pesante e innopportuno. Massimo dei voti per questo locale che ci ha fatto sentire in una vera trattoria in una zona dove è difficile trovare autenticità per il turismo di massa, avrò sempre un buon ricordo di questa serata, non solo per la buona cucina, ambiente e servizio che abbiamo trovato, ma anche perché dopo un periodo si lontananza con la persona che amo, questa serata passata insieme, ci ha permesso di riavvicinarci e di passare un bel momento insieme. The food was delicious and the atmosphere delightfully local and our family had a lovely meal. We had local specialties including the house made pâté according to the owner’s grandfather’s recipe, the veal tagliolini (tiny little ravioli), lake fish and eggplant ravioli. The food was so good (pasta made in house) that we came back again the next evening and my children popped into the kitchen to learn from the chef. We highly recommend this restaurant.
