Trattoria Ristorante Imbarcadero — Restaurant in Stresa

I had the pleasure of eating at this amazing restaurant and was completely bowled over by the whole dining experience. Half of our party took the chef's recommendation and were served with the freshest most-appetising seafood in generous portions. The rest of our party chose different dishes but were equally delighted with their choices, including the fussy youngster among us. The staff in this family-run business were attentive, helpful and friendly to a fault and the whole dining experience was enhanced by the fact that we were seated on the terrace with sumptuous views over the lake. But let me not forget to mention the desserts! Despite the ample main courses we decided to work on a recommendation and try some of Laura's amazing deserts. The tiramisu was light-as-a-feather and melt in your mouth. And my family and friends advised that their choices were just as delicious, underlined by the fact that they ate them down too fast to let me taste! Laura's famous desserts are not to be missed! Our party of 4 enjoyed a delicious lunch at this outstanding trattoria. The variety of food on the menu is impressive, with a definite emphasis on local produce. A tasty starter of mixed lake fish was followed by a very generous plate of linguini piled with shellfish: clams, prawns, mussels and giant shrimp. It was all I could do to finish it, and I thought I wouldn't be able to do dessert, but when I saw what was on offer I realised it would be criminal to turn it down. I had a classical tiramisu, while my friends enjoyed a fruity summer version and a crema Catalana (like a very thick creme brûlée). The service was very disappointing and disrespectful- I understand that the restaurant is extremely busy, yet I do not think telling the customers to “not stand here” in a rude manner is appropriate. We kindly asked where we can wait, where the line was to enter the restaurant (despite the minimum 30 minutes wait), however the staff told us to “don’t stand here, be outside, come back in 30 minutes” where clearly lots of other people are outside (not in line) being confused and lost.
