We chose to come try here based on reviews and were in for a treat! We ate early so we were able to get a table and found the atmosphere to be relaxing and the service by both Alessandro and Vincenzo to be friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic- full of flavor and that Sicilian flair. We noticed what sounded like locals at nearby tables, which is always a good sign for us! At the end of the meal, Vincenzo came to the table to check on us and at time we found out he was the owner of this magnificent establishment! He gave us some history of the locale going back several centuries where people could escape from danger and there is a glass partition in the floor where you can see down below the building’s foundation. It was a lovely first evening in Ortigia and the food and experience couldn’t have been better! A must try for anyone in the area.

This is a great place to go, if you don't have reservation but still want to eat a high quality and tasty Italian and Sicilian food. The restaurant has a lot of seating space so finding a spot should be easier even in high season. The menu consists of pizzas (including some less common and very interesting options), pasta and meat dishes. Beef tagliata was cooked very well and pizzas were good too. For dessert, I highly recommend pistachio panna cotta. The selection of wines is quite good as well, with nice local options, and very reasonably priced (15-25 EUR for a bottle). For 4 people, we paid 150 EUR and got a lot of food and a bottle of wine for that.

At Forte Compana restaurant, I enjoyed the best pizza ever. Not only because of the quality of the ingredients, but also due to the fermentation process. I digested the pizza very well; it was quite large and generously topped. My pizza had mozzarella, sausage, friarielli, and sun-dried tomatoes, which I would describe as superb. The restaurant has a spacious indoor area with air conditioning and outdoor tables. The staff and owners are very kind. As a pizza lover, I can say this is one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. You have to try it!!!

Good food, however large selection of the menu leads to some mediocre dishes; better can be found nearby.

Still recommend, however be aware not all dishes on the menu have the same love.

Edit: After the response from the owner, I just wanted to clarify that I believe this is a great spot to eat well! Some of my family and friends (including myself) very much so enjoyed our meals, while others did not enjoy their dishes as much. Of course, this could be down to personal preference, but if I had to offer constructive criticism I believe the menu is too varied for the cooks to perfect each and every dish. On the other hand, I admit it could just have been an off night or some of my friends/family have a more particular palate than me.

Again, to clarify, for me a 3/5 is still a good restaurant and above average! It is a problem today that people see a 3/5 as a "low" rating...

There are some bad reviews from five years ago, and you are free to ignore those. We went here for a dinner yesterday and the food was perfect, pasta with fresh fennel was a balanced blend of flavours I enjoyed profoundly. While the food was good, lets face it: the service is what makes the place stand out. All the boys and the girl on the place was extremely polite, amazingly professional and very attentive to detail. Before I could ask for something, they already knew and supplied. The whole staff feels like they were educated in some very posh university for restaurant service. Amazing experience, this is the place where you know what coperto is for. Highly...
