L'Ufficio - Ristorante a Siracusa — Restaurant in Syracuse

Our favorite restaurant in all of Sicily....Please note, that our trip included a two star Michelin and still this restaurant experience was our favorite. We love great food and great service and L'Ufficio accomplished that in an unpretentious way. Partners Fabrizio (front of the house who truly knows the menu and his wine) and Adriana (leading the kitchen) create the perfect evening. We began with Caponata. On this trip we actually would order this dish at most restaurants we visited and it was delightful to experience each restaurant’s take on Caponata. The flavors here were savory and sweet as the Caponata sat on a thin layer of a savory sweet jam. Scrumptious! We then shared two pasta dishes that we had as separate courses. Each was pasta perfection! Paccheri Al Ragu (Paccheri with a fish ragu) and La "Cuncimata" which was a Sausage Ragout, wild Fennel on top of a bed of Ricotta Cheese. Not only fantastic, but beautifully presented. We then followed this with a stunning dish of red snapper between thinly sliced potatoes on the top and bottom sitting on a sauce of peas w/ cream. Could the meal get any better? We ended it with the "made in house" connolo. Fabrizio said confidently it would be the best we ever had ... and you know, he was correct. Che dire di un Ristorante trovato per caso, sulla via del ritorno da Pachino a Palermo, e che si è rivelato una piacevolissima sorpresa. Tutto curato nei minimi dettagli da ristoratori professionisti che rendono l'esperienza un trionfo di sapori, odori e sensazioni indimenticabili. Partendo dal locale, piccolo ma luminoso, arredatamento minimal ed elegante così come la mise en place, cucina a vista separata con una vetrata dalla sala che dà la possibilità di apprezzare la professionalità con cui lo staff di cucina prepara i piatti che escono con velocità e attenzione maniacale. Una cantina fornitissima, dove la scelta dei vini viene guidata sapientemente in abbinamento ai piatti scelti. Un menu che viene mostrato (e spiegato) direttamente dalla Chef con l'ausilio di una lavagna che dà l'impressione di essere riadattata e rinnovata giornalmente sulla base delle materie prime disponibili. Ci siamo concentrati sui piatti di mare ordinando un'insalata di fichi e gambero viola (eccezionale) e calamaro scottato su letto di ceci e olive, abbinamenti straordinari accompagnati da una cura nell'impiattamento che mostra la passione che c'è dietro e la voglia di stupire esaltando le materie prime del territorio che sono protagoniste assolute dei piatti. Linguine con scampi, pomodorini e asparagi, un primo fresco al sapore di mare e terra. Avevamo deciso di fermarci qui, dato il lungo viaggio in auto che ci aspettava, ma la Chef percependo la nostra curiosità verso il Baccalà mantecato con verdure croccanti, ci ha sorpreso portandocene un assaggio (che semprava una porzione intera) e che ci è stato gentilmente e sorprendentemente offerto. Per concludere, cucina ad altissimi livelli così come il servzio, con un rapporto qualità/prezzo perfetto. Ho già consigliato il locale a diversi amici e quando ci ritroveremo a passare da Siracusa non potremo esimerci dal visitarlo di nuovo. Chiunque intraprenda un'attività di ristorazione dovrebbe prendere esempio da questo ristorante e dai proprietari ed ambire a raggiungere questi livelli.
