When in Syracuse for me this is the best coffee shop. There are selections of great coffees, pastries and cakes. There is not much food but takeaway different kinds of pasta can be bought to eat and go. All their pastries are so yumny. They also sell limited alcoholic drinks. It's a great place to sit outside there is view of the stree outside. Nice indoor setting too. I highly recomnend this place and it is located in the old city along the main street in Syracuse. The staffs are also friendly even though they spoke limited english. This place was opened in 1956 and building is quiet trendy and very nice architecture. According to owner Basier C. the place open everyday from 7:30 a.m to 9:00 p.m and during summer months its open from 7:30 to 11:00 p.m. The place accepts credit cards and cash.

I don’t understand the bad reviews. I have to say I go for coffee and croissants or brioches every morning, except on 2 mornings when I left early for early morning excursions. My morning fix, un caffe doppio lungo, is the best. In the afternoon, when I need a fix, I go for crema caffe or a late macchiato. I love the touch of the latte art. So cute. Maybe it’s because I eat and drink at the counter for the past 7 days so I see the hustle and bustle and the chaos of locals and foreigners who come in for their caffeine or their gelato. Hence I have deep respect for the hardworking ladies who have to navigate all the nonstop orders and paying customers. Respect aside, it is a great place and location for coffee and gelato. Price is also non-exorbitant.

Viola - Gelati e Caffè dal 1936 is hands down the best gelato and espresso experience I’ve had in Sicily so far. The quality is unmatched - the gelato is rich, creamy, and full of flavor, clearly made with care and tradition. The espresso? Perfectly pulled, smooth, and strong - exactly what you’d expect from a place with such a long-standing history. What makes it even better is the price: just €5.30 for both! Incredible value for top-tier quality. The atmosphere is charming, and the staff are friendly and welcoming, adding to the whole experience. If you’re in Syracuse, do not miss this place. A true gem.
