Diabolical is the only word to describe this restaurant. Service was non existent. We had to chase starters for over 30 minutes and they all arrived separately. The first arrived 45 minutes before the last and then was greasy and missing items which were mentioned on the menu. Grey beef nachos with about 3g of unmelted cheese. Yuck
Main courses were worse. Who serves fajitas without tortillas, sour cream, beans, salad etc? When missing items requested for the third time (we had to actually leave our seats because the waiting staff were nowhere to be seen) the wrong tortillas were given and beans were shoved on the table. By this point the fajita filling had been sat on the table for 15 minutes and was cold. I politely offered some feedback to the waiter about the slowness of the service and that it was bad and was told “ok”.
Don’t bother with the prawn tacos. You will pay for only 6 prawns across three tacos. There is no salad. No sour cream. No nothing. Just greasy taco, limited prawns and lukewarm rice.
I ate half of what I was given and so did my husband. We left our meal on the table as we wanted to leave. I offered to pay half (we only received half) plus our drinks and this is where it all became worse. The woman on reception was initially apologetic but then went on to get her husband (who I presume is the owner/chef) from the kitchen who came charging out of the kitchen and started shouting. He is an American and clearly thought I was too and kept telling me we were not in America now and I had to pay for bad service. I had calmly and politely explained the problem but I was told I could have no discount. I didn’t want a discount I only wanted to pay for what I had eaten. From here I was threatened with the police. I was also told by the chef that he would go and get his Sicilian cousin to fix the situation. Five members of staff were all shouting and yelling at me. Americans threatening British tourists with Sicilian cousins is scandalous and does nothing but perpetuate the belief held by many in the rest of the world that Sicilians are bunch of thugs. Thankfully I know this not to be true but shame on the restaurant owner for trying to intimidate a family who only wanted a decent meal.
They then refused to let me pay by credit card and wanted to walk me to the cash point which I refused and told them I would call the police myself. They told me I wasn’t allowed to pay by card - only cash. When I insisted they took payment via card the price went UP by €20
Avoid this restaurant at all costs. The food that arrived was mediocre. The waiting staff clearly don’t care for anyone who doesn’t have Italian as a first language so if you’re a tourist - don’t bother. The owners of the restaurant don’t understand customer service and they are aggressive.
Overall this establishment is an embarrassment to the beautiful nation of Sicily where we have met such wonderful people, and received such exceptional service we have been coming back for our holiday three times in a row.
EDIT: What I have written is not a big lie. The food was disgusting. The service was terrible and your husband sought to intimidate me by threatening to call the police and your family when I complained. We sat for two hours asking for our food repeatedly before I asked to leave and pay for what we received. Your husband then started slamming doors and yelling and threatening me. That is TERRIBLE BEHAVIOUR. I was never rude. I offered to pay half because half of what you provided was BAD. You refused to let me leave the restaurant without paying the full total, so yes my husband did say he would dispute the payment. You were seeking to extort money from us for a bad service. I’m sorry you can’t see where you went wrong. Your response however is not unexpected - I knew you would accuse me of being in the wrong and not admit to your...
Read moreI give 2 stars to service because the waiter we had was nice but at the end when we asked when is our food coming he seemed clueless of our order. Food was delicious but it arrived a bit cold probably because of bad service. Restaurant was very disorganised. We waited almost an hour for starters. And each dish we had ordered took more than half an hour to come. The service was exhausting. The restaurant was not even full and at the end their excuse was “crowded night”. Later, everyone left and we were still waiting. We were the last ones leaving the restaurant before closing time because of long waiting time. Food was good but we’re scared...
