I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and certainly will not be back there for the reasons described below. We chose Fronte Mare to have a dinner during our day trip to Trapani, mainly due to good reviews that we found on Google. First of all, the information available in Google about opening hours is incorrect. Upon arrival around 18, we got informed that it only opens at 19, but the waiter asked to come at 19:30. When we got there, we were the only customwrs, so we quickly ordered 3x spaghetti alla siciliana and 2x lasagna. Unfortunately, we couldn't order cous cous, because the waiter said that it is finished (strange, as in the menu, they claim that it is freshly prepared during the weekend and we ate there on Monday). The lasagna was good and tasty, the portion was rather small. The Spaghetti alla Siciliana all 3 of us found really mediocre - it was like they just put the ingredients together on the plate without any herbs. On top of that, there were very little ingredients used and the portion was small. Certainly, looking at the pictures of others on Google, I couldn't believe it, as it was half of what they received. Anyway, we asked for a bill and left the money at the table - exactly 81€. An awkard situation happened, as the waiter run behind us saying that it was 82€ and we left 1€ less, which wasn't true. Confronted with the amount on the bill, he apologized and we walked away. It looks that we were either extremely unlucky and got the worst day ever of the cook or the restaurant is just not serving great...
Read moreExcellent restaurant. Friendly service, nice location and most importantly really good food. Chef rightly takes pride in his work as he came out twice to ask us if we enjoyed the meal. We had a complimentary antipasto with trapenese pesto and then two pasta dishes which my girlfriend and I shared, one with courgette and shrimp and one with grilled swordfish. The first was very well balanced, simple and flavourful and the second used mint which I've never had with swordfish before and was really delicious. The fish was clearly very fresh. Highly recommended, we are only in Trapani for three days but will try...
Read moreGreat little place owned by the family who cooks and serves the food. Always greeted with respect and friendliness. Fresh fish always on the menu which is cooked traditionally local style. Try tuna with grilled onions was great last time. Also, combo appetizer platter of frutti di mare is always recommended to kick off the dinner. I became regular here due to very friendly staff and more than reasonable prices....
