Ichiban — Restaurant in Treviso

we walked in to be greeted by two very serious, if not to say grumpy faces. we hadn’t reserved a table (spontaneously walked in to try our luck on way home) but were seated at a small both-facing-the-wall seating area right next to the reception area/door. so far so good - if you ignore the grumpy faces, that is.

there are no printed menus with current prices and the qr code with the updated menu didn’t load on either one of our phones. the people sitting next to us had the same problem. however, this still wasn’t a real issue. i can imagine how it would make the staff go crazy after having to explain this countless times a day, though. if the internet doesn’t work within the restaurant they should print new menus, it’s as easy as that.

to come to the point that matters: the people who arrived way after us were asked what they wanted to drink/eat before us. while we were being ignored despite obviously having had chosen our drinks/meals for awhile and sitting riiiight next to them! our ‘neighbors’ were dressed quite fancy so that might have drawn the waitresses eye towards them, but in the end that wouldn’t be a good argument, would it.

for me this was already quite rude (as the waitress didn’t even look at us once) but my boyfriend asked me not to say anything yet, so i didn’t. BUT when he tried asking a person for service a few minutes later (after them having walked by another few times) the guy simply said ‚WAIT!‘, in a tone that just wasn’t ok. my boyfriend is italian and was speaking to the guy in italian so language can’t have been an issue. after that happened my boyfriend looked at me and said: ok, let’s go!! he is not one to get offended easily but we both felt super unwelcome by then!

so this kind of is a pretty basic story. i have worked in hospitality for many years and i know that it can be rather stressful and demanding but there’s always a way to say things nicely. so, considering all of the above… a couple of people at this place might have the wrong job. and i for sure won’t be leaving my money there in the future.

Posticino molto adorabile in cui passo più tempo che a casa. Si tratta di un ristorante con piatto principale il ramen, di origine giapponese. Non sono mai stato in Giappone, a provare un autentico ramen, ma posso affermare tranquillamente che questo si avvicina moltissimo rispetto ad altri posti (che propongono ramen che è solamente un instant ramen con qualche verdura buttata li) Qualità dei prodotti e cura nei dettagli sono il punto forte che si fa presente, un grandissimo punto a favore è anche il prezzo, che non va quasi mai oltre i 20 euro a persona (almeno per noi).

Il piatto forte che sicuramente va provato è l'Ichiban Ramen, di cui puntualmente mi cibo assiduamente e di cui non ho neanche una foto. Altri piatti meritevoli sono il Shouyu Ramen, un po più leggero ma equamente gustoso. Se siete vegetariani, il Vegeta Ramen vi spiazzerà completamente. Un gusto inaspettato e particolarmente saporito, pur essendo una zuppa di miso con tofu e verdure. Un altro dei miei piatti preferiti è il Donburi, una ciotola di riso con pancetta marinata e glassata che è davvero gustosa e veloce da mangiare.

Infine c'è l'Aimen, che non ho provato come si deve (la pasta normalmente è soba, cioé di grano saraceno ma quel giorno era finita) quindi potete provarlo. Non ha il brodo come gli altri ramen, ma tiene comunque bene un buon gusto.

Ricordatevi che le porzioni, anche se in foto sembrano piccole, sono veramente abbondanti.

Oltre ad avere dei piatti eccellenti ci sono diversi snack come i Gyoza (raviolini di carne), shumai di gamberi o di pollo e anche i baozi. Quest'ultimo non mi sento di raccomandarlo, ho fatto abbastanza fatica a mangiarlo e il gusto non mi ha esaltato, ma potrebbe essere diverso per qualcun'altro. Infine ci sono tante bevande diverse, dalla birra al sake, e ci sono anche tanti dolci come il dorayaki, il taiyaki e il tiramisu al matcha. Hanno anche il bubble tea.

Il locale ha diversi posti all'interno, ma potrebbe sembrare un po' stretto per qualcuno. All'esterno ci sono alcuni posti sotto un ombrellone. Ha un ambience molto stile anime, con tante reference e accessori colorati e scritte in giapponese molto simpatiche.

Un ultimo punto a favore è lo staff, gentile e cordiale, presente ma non invadente. Sicuramente è meglio prenotare un posto in anticipo, ma in più occasioni ci siamo presentati senza aver prenotato e abbiamo comunque trovato posto. Importante è anche che al tempo di scrivere questa recensione, agosto 2021, viene richiesto di mostrare il Green Pass all'ingresso.

Il locale si raggiunge facilmente a piedi se siete all'interno delle mura di Treviso, da li in poi si può facilmente visitare la città che a mio parere è davvero particolare, quasi romantica in certi periodi dell'anno, oserei dire. Importante notare che non c'è un parcheggio dedicato, infatti parcheggiamo sempre al parcheggio della stazione (a pagamento) che dista circa 4 minuti a piedi. Altrimenti, ci sono anche i parcheggi pubblici sempre a pagamento, ma che spesso e volentieri sono occupati e difficili da trovare liberi. In ogni caso si è vicini alla fermata dell'autobus, quindi è veramente facile raggiungere il posto. A mio parere, il posto è accessibile anche in sedia a rotelle in quanto il locale è tutto sullo stesso livello al piano terra. Aggiungo anche che è possibile portarci animali, io ci avevo portato il mio cane ed è stato molto bravo e tranquillo.

Personalmente, questo posto mi piace molto e ci tornerei volentieri. Se potessi parlare con il proprietario gli farei senz'altro i complimenti. Allego un paio di foto dei piatti...

I was excited to give this restaurant a try only to end up with a dissapointingly bad experience. The local is nice, anime/manga themed but extremely cold inside for no reason. The ramen? NOT a good one, if you are expecting to taste the original one this is not it. The broth taste likd it's old, the noodles are not homemade and not even japanese noodles, the meat has the same old taste, and the scent of everything together gives too much of an old cooked pork despite being under the name of "chicken"... And the dumplings are below average as well, none of the food felt like being cooked on the spot, it all felt like being cooked days prior to being served. Maybe the quality will get better in the future, but for now...
