Alla Bella Trieste — Restaurant in Trieste

This is a classic Italian trattoria—the kind where the average Italian might drop in for a hearty lunch or a crisp glass of white wine. I personally recommend the grilled calamari with potatoes (see attached picture for proof of my excellent taste). It was absolutely delicious.

The wine list is impressively vast—practically a vinological thesis in itself. Sadly, I had to abstain, as someone had to pilot the vehicle home. I now entrust this noble mission to the next lucky guide.

If you go to one restaurant during your stay in Trieste go to Alla Bella Trieste! I had one of the best meals ever in my 64 years. This is what you could describe as a wine bar (without the 90's London connotations). I counted in excess of 100 wine choices in this simple restaurant which has a wood- clad walled mountain hut vibe. We hadn't booked but the friendly and accommodating staff found us a table for two. Highly recommend this family restaurant with warm atmosphere and professional and friendly service. Waiter was very helpful and advised well with dishes and wine. Prices were very affordable and food was just amazing. Try scallops, shrimp pasta and sea food spicy soup: believe me you will not be disappointed. Homemade vine will surprise you with a price(just 12€ a litre!) and its taste - very nice especially for this price.
