BEFED Trieste — Restaurant in Trieste

I had a pretty terrible experience here. First of all, I was looking at the menu and they have an asterisk by things that have been frozen on their menu. There are no items you can order which have not been frozen at some point.

Anyway, I got past this and picked a sandwich to order, but I have a nut allergy. When I asked for this sandwich, I was told I cannot have the sandwiches because they might contain nuts in the bread. There was no indication of nuts at all anywhere on the menu. So I asked for just the patty of the sandwich on a plate and was told they cannot do this, even though the image for the children’s menu is exactly this.

So the only thing I was told I could order from the entire menu was the galleto. I said fine, I’d eat this. So when the food was brought out, I took the galleto and began to eat. It came with French fries and some Befed sauce. Maybe five minutes later the waitress brings another plate and says I cannot have the one I had because the Befed sauce has nuts. This is after I’ve already eaten a lot of it.

So now I’m feeling frustrated and sick and unhappy. I am not one to write bad reviews, I much prefer to write good ones. But I need to be sure that nobody goes through what I went...

First visit tonight and was very pleased with the food and the service. The portion was nice and big and very tasty, the jalapeños with cheese were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The beer was nice and the coffee excellent. Staff were delightful and so pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was relaxed and peaceful, the prices absolutely acceptable. Pausa pranzo con colleghi ho scelto l'insalata con il pollo sbriciolato. Cestino di pane caduto a terra alla cameriera CHE non lo lascia sul bancone a fianco ma sparisce con i pezzi raccolti e dopo un paio di minuti torna con il pane nel cestino. Ecco, il dubbio che fosse lo stesso caduto mi é rimasto e questo modo di gestire l'errore, sarebbe lo stesso per una forchetta ovvio, non va bene. Quello sporco o caduto lo metti da parte e torni con quello nuovo. Poi se non usi la loro salsa per condire mangi asciutto, niente olio. Più che un posto dove mangiare e' una scelta di stile che ora dopo averla provata non condivido. Coperto 1,80 per tovaglietta in carta, bagigi vecchi e mangiare con le mani.
