Birreria Forst — Restaurant in Trieste

One of a small chain of Forst places, this is a large bar restaurant serving beer and food with a feel of the Austrian/German/Swiss Alps. Simple wood-panelled decor brings to mind an enlarged mountain hut. Friendly English-speaking service, big, hearty portions of no-nonsense Germanic-Italian food (think sausages, polenta, stews, roast meat, potatoes), and a selection of excellent Forst beers. We had to spend an extra day in Trieste because of the train cancellations and I'm glad we did. We had a great lunch in this restaurant (Birreria Forst), beautifully decorated with great details, fantastic service, reasonably priced, the food was delicious, birra 🍺 Forst was one of the best beers I had in a long time. ci siamo stati un sera, per quanto ci fosse gente non abbiamo avuto difficoltà ad avere un tavolo. Le cameriere gentilissime ed un po' imbarazzate per certe regole del posto. Mi spiego, avendo poca fame, mi sarebbe bastato ordinare un piatto piccolo, quello per bambini sul menu, per intenderci. Le regole del posto dicono che non posso farlo, quindi devo ordinare un piatto normale (nella fattispecie una Wiener Schnitzel con patatine fritte) pagarlo di più, lasciando indietro quell che per me fosse troppo. No no, cosi non va bene, io cliente devo poter scegliere ciò che più mi aggrada e non essere obbligato ad acquistare ciò che il venditore desidera. Superato questo i tempo di "fornitura" esageratamente lunghi, 20.06 l'ora segnata sul bigliettino delle bibite, che consegnano al tavolo, 20.37 ora di consegna dei piatti (una Wiener Schnitzel ed un piatto di canederli col gulasch). I canederli col gulasch non erano niente di eccezionale, mentre la Wiener Schnitzel era estremamente oleosa tanto che ho dovuto "sgrassarla" con la salvietta, che si è tanto impregnata da diventare molto più pesante. Delle patatine neanche a parlarne, immangiabili. Per nulla croccanti all'esterno e tutte mollicciose all'interno, come se si fossero scongelate prima della cottura. Ho messo 5 stelle al servizio solo per le cameriere che pur girando com trottole sono sempre state gentili e disponibili...
