This restaurant is a neighborhood gem, serving amazing freshly homemade breakfast, lunch and dinner. We went there several times during our stay and tried many of their breakfast lunch and dinner dishes. For breakfast I really like their yoghurt bowl, and, as some other google reviewers noted, the scones are easily the best scones I remember ever having (even better than what I remember having in the U.K). If you’re there for breakfast, do not miss their scones! As for their lunch and dinner menus, their pasta dishes are absolutely amazing! In fact, you can sometimes watch their pasta chef making pasta right in front of you (I later found out that they offer pasta-making classes at this location!). I loved the truffle tagliatelle, simply amazing! I also really loved the meat ragu tagliatelle—it’s the best bolognese sauce pasta I’ve ever had (and I’ve been to many Italian cities at many restaurants, and I’m usually not a bolognese pasta fan, but this one really won me over). I also really liked the burrata and tomato appetizer, as well as the eggplant on bread appetizer. Now the dessert: the passion-fruit crème brûlée is truly excellent! Their coffee drinks are also very good (the iced coffee is very good!)

The restaurant is not very big so I recommend making a reservation on their busy nights and also for weekend brunches. They do have a couple large tables for accommodating large parties (of maybe 10 people?)

Lastly, I notice some google reviews complain about the portion size: I personally find the portion size to be perfect as I find the portion sizes at some other Trieste restaurants too big and often times I feel too full after eating one main dish, so this place has the perfect portion...

VEGANS STAY AWAY. Not sure why this place is the first to appear when typing ‘vegan Trieste’ in the search bar. They do have some vegan dishes but it’s a serious case of green washing trend which I find infuriating. In fact, if you read their food menu you’ll find they serve BABY COW HEADS on a plate. How on earth do you serve a baby’s chopped head as well as have vegan options on the menu? This is a typical gimmick tourist trap and I’m sorry I ever fell for it. Additionally, prices are not proportionate to their dishes (vegan pancakes were 12euros and pretty much raw, didn’t eat them) and a watermelon juice was just under 5euros! Staff did offer to replace the pancakes dish which was nice and as we kindly refused they refunded 2€. Also the owner was very unfriendly: when we politely asked if we could consume food as well as work on our laptop we were told that we would have to leave once the cafe got busy. This would normally be a fair thing to say but her tone was truly rude. What is really funny is that we were the only customers in there until 1:30PM, so all those people she was expecting clearly never showed up LOL! Other signs of rude unfriendliness: a sign in the toilet sharing info on how much the cafe pays every year to do maintenance work (too much info, thanks). Even their WiFi password is rude - it’s something to do with not splitting bills. No need to be passive aggressive don’t you think? Also how awkward for some people (like coworkers for example) to not be able to split bills. Also no aircon, super hot and sticky. Only positive note: staff (not the owner) was friendly...

We got 2 veggie pasta dishes and they were okay. I am giving less starts because they dont respect their opening times. We were there at 6:30, with customers already waiting, when it was their opening time, but they opened the door at 6:50 and the staff was still just coming in. It took a while to get our order (they were still setting up tables, ignoring us) and we ended up starting to eat at 7:30, and we were starving! Furthermore, at the end we ordered a slice of cake and it took over 15 min for them to bring it (we saw that they were “assembling” the cake after our order). They could have simply told us that the cake we wanted was not available then and not make us wait and ask what was going on. We were with our baby, made a plan to come to this restaurant early in the evening to be able to enjoy a dinner and it was very stressful because they were very late with...

This place is a bit off the beaten track and was a recommendation. I am really grateful that I had the chance to experience this little gem. It's a special place not just because of the ambience and atmosphere but also because of the truly amazing food. Food is homemade and very tasty. The menu is written on a chalkboard and you get a great explanation of every dish. With your food you can select from a wide range of wines to accompany your meal. Service is incredibly friendly and prices are more than fair. I will definitely come back and I strongly recommend this place to others. Your taste buds would really miss out on a great experience. My sincere Thanks to the entire team for this very pleasurable moment which was definitely a highlight of my Trieste visit.
