The Van Gogh exhibition was a medium experience but the museum itself is one of the most organised and well maintained we've seen in a long time. It's a small museum, but thus very pleasant, not overwhelming and non-tiring. And the staff is so kind and warm. Thank you for the wonderful experience. The Van Gogh, unfortunately not what was expected. The exhibition is small, the rooms are small and if a lot of people come, very crowdy and the air gets bad very quickly. If you want to see it in peace and enjoy it, come during the week, not on weekends. And if you are a demanding art lover, better ask what is displayed, otherwise you might be disappointed. No Starry Night here, just so you know.... And buy tickets well in advance as there are more advantages of buying in advance: you will be sure that you will be able to even enter; during the reservation procedure you will be able to see how busy it is that day and hour, so you can then choose a different day and time to go; without tickets in advance you risk waiting in a very long line outside of the building under the rain etc and still not being sure you will even be able to get a ticket after all the wait (the line can be an hour or more long of standing and waiting). So just buy online and have a peace of mind. Oh, and be sure to come in Trieste half an hour earlier to your booking because there might be surprises with parking spaces for the car. Sometimes the seaside parkings are all closed because of some events and then you get stuck in traffic searching for a parking. Suggestion if that happens: write in Google Maps "parking garage covered" so it will help you find a closed parking garage, which are scattered across the city centre. But you really need an updated (best Google) navigation because Trieste is a maze of small one-way roads and you can get...
Read moreA fantastic experience beyond a classic art gallery!! Amazing collection of late 19th century and more contemporary paintings and sculptures. Interesting layout (start at the top and slowly descend into history). Highlights include a classic Pomodoro sculpture and Italian impressionists. History of the museum and its unique collection practices is also told through the art pieces on display. Enriching experience that goes beyond looking at the pictures.
But the real highlight is the structure itself masterfully design by Scarpa to perfectly integrate art and the surrounding landscape. Nooks and glass walls offer glimpses of the beautiful Trieste bay, lines and corners integrate with the art for a real full five-sense immersion. Not to mention the rooftop terrace!!
Make sure to visit the outdoor space on the 5th floor. It offers a breathtaking view of the full bay and the mountains!
Friendly staff is a huge plus!! Thank you. A must visit if...
Read more"Nestled in the heart of Trieste, the magnificent Museo Revoltella is a testament to the generous legacy of Baron Revoltella, who bequeathed his opulent palace and an extraordinary collection of art and furnishings to the city. Stepping inside feels like a journey through time, allowing visitors to explore both the baron's meticulously preserved residence and a vibrant modern art gallery. The museum consistently hosts world-class exhibitions, and our visit was perfectly timed for the highly anticipated Vincent van Gogh show. To stand before Gogh's renowned works, experiencing the vibrant colors and emotive brushstrokes firsthand, was an unparalleled artistic experience. While the ticket price may feel a bit high, the sheer brilliance of a Van Gogh exhibition makes it an investment well worth it for any art enthusiast. Allocate ample time to fully immerse yourself in both the permanent collection and any special exhibitions – you...
