Le botti — Restaurant in Trieste

We didn’t reserve a table, but we got a table split in two, and they said to just sit there, fair enough. The servers didn’t really speak to us at all. The food was pretty good, we ordered two pasta dishes and a boring side dish of grilled vegetables. (13 euro per dish + 4 for the side) which was fair enough. But when my girlfriend finished her plate, and I still ate, they came to take her plate without saying anything which we thought was rude, and I gave up the rest of my dish. Then the other servers quickly came and took all our other stuff, and we were left with just our wine glasses. It felt like they were trying to get rid of us, even though it was only 22:30 and we were never asked if we would like dessert (so we took of to somewhere else)

Anyways, good location, nice facilities, good food, fair prices but the servers pulled the rating down,...

We stopped for lunch and liked it so much we came back for dinner! We had a table inside (the restaurant is very compact and bijou) although others were enjoying dining outside, where there were more tables. The service was very good. Our waiter suggested the dish of the day, a pasta dish with mussels and cream which my husband had and thoroughly enjoyed while I had spaghetti alle vongole. In the evening we had pasta again, my dish of tagliatelle allo scoglio in bianco was particularly superb. The bread was delicious and there were a good selection of wines, although we didn't have any. For 2 pasta dishes, a litre of water and 2 (very good) coffees we paid 42 euro, at lunch and at dinner. Very unpleasent expirience.

Summary: too expensive, unfriendly and long waiting time

The first problem occured when we ordered our appetizers, and they brought us the wrong food after waiting about an hour... Afterwords we still had to wait another hour to get our main dishes.

The second problem is that we were eight people (two families) and told them that we want two seperate bills. Instead of doing that, they just put everything onto a single bill, because having two on the same table is too much work.

On top of all that the waiters were very incompetent in doing their job. They left empty plates on our table, the waiter gave us an english menu but does not know any english himself and the other waitress straight up ignored you if she...
