Trattoria Al Moro Trieste — Restaurant in Trieste

We decided to try Trattoria Al Moro Trieste after a long day driving from Croatia as it was close to the apartment we were overnighting at.

If I had to use one word to describe our experience it would simply be Wow!

We arrived around 18.45 without reservation and there were no customers in sight. Our host quickly and graciously provided us a table despite them obviously expecting a very busy evening of pre booked tables. Sure enough within 15 minutes the place was full of local families, groups and couples bringing a real buzz to the restaurant.

We ordered starters each, one first course and two second courses and a bottle of wine to go with the meal. We also enjoyed a bianco spritz each as an aperitif which was refreshing and amazing.

All the food was very straightforward but absolutely packed with flavour, arrived hot and was obviously created with passion and know how.

We left after a couple of hours very satisfied ( they needed the table for a reservation) but despite this, nothing was rushed and the service was exceedingly friendly and attentive.

Had a reasonable meal here, recommended by our AirBnb host. Not a great location next to traffic intersection but mitigated by screening and nice ivy over garden area. Sat outside since no AC (running?) inside, just wish Italians didn't smoke in between every course...food some nice touches, recommended the pork schnitzel which is on menu as Lubjanska and comes with nicely scalloped fried potatoes, and local speciality Chifiletti also potato but a nice flavour. Service a bit slow although...

Non era la prima volta in cui sono stato in questa trattoria, dove, è doveroso premetterlo, la cortesia è di casa così come la qualità dei piatti: che sono tipici della tradizione triestina (e quindi anche austro-ungarica e slovena) e direi molto ben realizzati, per così dire un po'.. "ruspanti". Da provare lo spritz al kren (rafano), propostomi da una signorina gentile e preparata: l'ho accettato di buon grado, perché mi incuriosiva, e l'ho trovato profumato, fresco, frizzante e godibilissimo. Ottimi gli gnocchi di pane, con diversi e saporiti condimenti (dall'arrosto al gulasch), le lubjanske impanate oppure alla piastra, il pasticcio di zucchine al curry, la parmigiana di melanzane, i crostini con il liptauer (davvero una gradita presenza), i dolci.. ma presto tornerò ad assaggiare altro. In definitiva: l'ambiente è accogliente, non formale, il servizio cortese e puntuale, si mangia bene, e, last but not least, è buono anche il rapporto qualità...
