Da Olivieri — Restaurant in Unione dei comuni della Versilia

I visited this place for a takeaway lunch, arriving around 1pm. I placed an order with the bar man for a pizza (quatro formaggi) and a calzone (verace). I asked the man how long I would have to wait and he estimated around 10 mins. The restaurant was moderately busy at this point, but still had around 50% capacity free. Over the course of the next 10-15 minutes, the restaurant started to fill up. The first sign for me that something wasn't right was when I noticed that guests that had arrived after me to sit at a table, were getting there food before mine. The waiter after what was now 20mins waiting came out with some completely random phrase about whether I was waiting with someone which I said no and then he said it will be coming shortly. After 30 mins wait, my order was finally ready. When I quizzed the man as to why it had taken so long, his reply was quite shocking, saying that they prioritise 'restaurant eat-in customers first'. Like, I know it's not the first time I've heard that during my holiday, but to first state up front a 10 min wait time which then turns into 30 mins and to then at the end, use that as an excuse I thought was extremely woeful customer service! The food was reasonably ok for what we ordered although I could see that the majority of customers seemed to be ordering pasta and sea food which may well be the better option.

When i choose a restaurant, one of the most important first look impression is the cleanliness, and Da Olivieri has it. Simple, minimalist decoration, clean, elegant, I like it. I enjoy the food and hospitality for the staff therfore I give all 5 stars rating. Because the foods has great taste, I ate two times there this summer vacation, the first is spaghetti allo scoglio with very fresh ingredients and taste good, second I ordered the fried mix seafood platter. Both are fresh with good quantity of portion, not too abundant. With white wine just make it perfect. Service really responsive so I give 5 stars. The food was so overpriced and mediocre. The service was pretty awful, didn’t see one member of staff crack a smile the whole time. Only reason I’m reviewing as 1 star is the house wine is €10 for a litre, but feel like I’m going to throw up any minute and blame that as tasted like toilet water. Spent £75 on a meal for 2 and it was about £30 quality. Sword fish was burnt n dry, sea bass wasn’t cooked, and all veg and panna cotta clearly out of a packet.
