Let me start by saying that Iâm a relatively pleasant and visibly very pregnant lady :) but my experience at this gelato place today was one of the worst ones that Iâve never experienced before in my life. So my husband and I walk into this place happily after our Cicchetti around the corner. There were no other customers inside when we walked in. A âpleasantâ young man greeted us âBonjourneâand continued his small talk with another elderly person (maybe his partner, local or his father). They had a fair amount of gelato flavors to choose from and I wasnât sure whether I should choose hazelnut with pistachio or chocolate with pistachio so I nicely asked if I could try both flavors. Next, this server, who I thought was such a pleasant man turned into a very rude person and said âyou can try only oneâand mind you he said it with a miserable expression on his face too........after a long pause of disbelief I thought he was joking so my reaction was âwhy not?â with a big smile. Well, this is when it all went down the hill. He turned very nasty and answered back âwhy should I even let you try one?â.....after another pause of disbelief that this is actually happening to me I said âare you serious?âagain with a smile on my face. I tried to explain to him that Iâm about to buy his gelato and Iâm undecided which other flavor to add to my pistachio. These are things a customer shouldnât have to explain to a business. He continued to argue with me and I became so irritated that I walked out. Also, as I was walking out his elderly friend and him started shouting âciao ciao ciao ciao ciaoâ. Iâm from a country where customer service is the most important thing in any business and Iâm sure anywhere else it should be also! I wouldnât really care much except that I am almost 8 months pregnant and for men to be treating a pregnant customer with such disrespect is just unacceptable and disgusting. Oh wait, scratch that, no woman period or any customer in general should be treated that way. Iâm recommending for tourists to stay away from this place again. They might not like tourists but reality is we feed them and bring food to their table so letting your customer try a tiny amount of gelato prior to their purchase is not going to make you run out business but word of mouth will! Maybe that âpleasantâ man will read this or if youâre the owner perhaps you should talk to this employee if you want your business to thrive. You have at least 4 other gelato shops around the corner to compete with and where we actually tried whatever flavor we liked and...
Read moreNot an authentic gelato place. We came here because of the high rating, only to find⊠âWAFFLESâ: non-authentic mold-cast ones (that become mushy if youâre carrying âem around too long) and relatively normal tasting ice cream. ICE CREAM: I got pistachio and tiramisu, which was not as flavorful as other gelaterias, somewhat too sweet, and even had a couple of weirdly sour bites. +1 star though because the pistachio had stalk crushed nuts in it, and tiramisu had some ladyfingers (savoiardi) pieces, which I enjoyed.
Overall I would rate this more highly if it werenât in the worldâs...
Read moreMaybe I would have rated this place more highly were it located anywhere else other than the country of amazing gelato. The texture was too icy and hard, more like regular ice cream and not really like gelato â the picture and shape of the scoop already shows this is not a regular gelato. The flavors we got, pistacchio (recommended by other reviewers) and nocciola (always a safe choice) tasted way too artificial. Iâd gladly go to a chain before...
