We came here because we saw all the good reviews but wow. I’ve never met anyone so rude until tonight. One of the servers named “Patricia” (woman with tattoos on both arms) was extremely rude to both my mother and I. While I went to use the restroom, she accused my mother of not ordering anything and taking up space in the restaurant. My poor mother told her repeatedly that we did in fact order already, but she just did not believe her until she finally went back to one of the other servers and realized her mistake. She also got extremely upset and accusatory that we had decided to drink our own water - we ordered water and waited and waited until we were too thirsty and decided to drink some of our own water that we had in our bag. We had tried to flag someone down but they weren’t coming to us - what were we supposed to do? Sit there and be uncomfortable? When I came back, I told “Patricia” to not be rude to my mother. It was her first time in Venice in over 25 years and I did not want her to leave upset. She repeatedly kept saying that we misunderstood the situation, which to me felt very belittling. She eventually said “So sorry” but with the attitude she had the whole time. It was clearly evident that she did not mean it and wanted us to go away. She started talking to one of the other servers in Italian and although we only speak English, it was clear that she was complaining about us. The other workers kept saying that “it’s okay” and maybe it was okay to them, but not for us. Repeatedly we felt like we were simply being dismissed. We will never be coming back and don’t recommend anyone to come here! Wish my mother didn’t have to experience such horrible behavior when she didn’t do anything wrong. Just accusations, dismissals, and straight up...
Read moreI ate all over Venice Island & the Lido on my 6 days at the film festival and this last day accidental find was the best hands down.
A series of serendipitous mini 'mistakes' in planning Ied me to Mestre & then in town centre & then found this place...Superb quarter of a century institution! So glad all things happen for good reason!🤗
Lots of people standing outside imbibing drink & food convivial atmosphere
The waitresses were super friendly & explained all the extensive sea food fare available + chicetti. You picked the sea fare, they prepare. Super reasonably priced.
Super fresh locally caught. I had the cannolichio (razor clams), umbrina(croaker) with leek + tomato, Bacala on Polenta, large gamberi...then followed by the scallop with orange & the piece de resistance...the best Uni pasta with Sarlicornia (Sea asparagus)😋
Everything just 40 euros! The menu was unbelievably extensive!
The Chinese couple not far from me ordered a sizzling steak!😛
If I could, I would have kept eating, small plate style pacing thru the night the way to go! 🤤
This place is a gem. I would make a bee line to here if you are looking for excellent n reasonable food with a lively atmosphere.
The mostly local crowd only got louder and larger standing outside eating and drinking but no issue getting a table tucked away somewhere. Staff very accomodating.
The young and friendly waitress made sure I left with something sweet with a melon shot for the...
Read moreI immediately felt that this was a place worth our visit.
once inside there was a birthday going on so it felt very homey feeling...the restaurant is decorated with different drawings, pictures, props etc just to make it more creative (we really loved this!)
After sitting down they brought us an english menu (in poster format) but that's allright...at least we could read what we were oredering. The waiters were all nice and patient (they spoke very good english so i'm guessing they are used to having tourists popping by)
we ordered 2 Baccala mantecato, a bottle of water, a beer, grilled beef, seafood pasta and a seafood mix (varies daily)...oh boy this did not disappoint!! We loved the seafood mix and the super tasty Baccala Mantecato (Creamy cod) which has a distinctive flavour to it...you should definitely try this local snack. (this Restaurant gives you a lot more than most Hostarias and bars...looking at the picture says it all..it's a thick layer of creamy cod and not some small layer.)
but the ultimate winner was definitely the Steak...it was grilled medium and it was very juicy !! now that's how you grill a steak!! at last we also ordered a Tiramisu which was nice to close this...
