La Pagoda Ristorante — Restaurant in Venice

Awful. Awful. Awful. So. My first and second course came out together. My daughter's did not. I sent my steak back. My rissoto was ok. Then about an hour after our plates were cleared I had to ask for our Secondi. My wife got the wrong salad. It was sent back. It came back wrong again. Sent it back. They had obviously manhandled it to remove the meat which she doesn't eat. My steak was late again. And cold. It was obviously the same dish from an hour ago. The sauce was thinned. The sent it back again reheated. A fillet steak cooked medium well. Terrible. Sitting on a Crostini that would break your teeth. All of a sudden the young friendly waiter started to act disrespectfully to my family. We booked a table for 8. My wife's 3rd salad come out at 9.45. We did not pay for anything that was wrong it the wine. However the bartender was amazing. Really friendly hardworking guy. He was working downstairs all day on the beach. Great spot and great staff. The food, on the other hand, doesn't hit the spot. Way overpriced, taking into account its low quality. It came nearly cold to the table, and we had to request to heat it up. The cocktails (Cuba Libre and Gin Tonic) were bad. Too much lemon juice in the Cuba Libre and the Gin Tonic was served in a tall glass. There's also one more tiny little thing that annoyed us... Upon arriving at the restaurant, through the beach, we sat on the stretches to wipe the sand off our feet. There, we were discriminated by the "private beach employee" who denied us access to the restaurant. We weren't wearing anything fancy and he might have judge us for that. Siamo al Lido di Venezia, scendiamo alla spiaggia del vecchio Grand Hotel Des Bains e, pur con una certa riluttanza, decidiamo di pranzare al ristorante "La Pagoda" che, di fatto, è la porta d'accesso alla spiaggia arrivando dalla strada. Siamo riusciti a farci accomodare, vincendo l'incomprensibile iniziale resistenza del cameriere, in un buon tavolo sulla terrazza affacciata sul mare. La posizione è incantevole, la giornata è limpida e soleggiata. Io, mia moglie e mio figlio siamo di ottimo umore e ben disposti verso un buon pranzo poi rivelatosi, nei fatti, meno che mediocre. Antipasto appena passabile, seppure magnificato dal cameriere come piatto distintivo del locale. Gli spaghetti cacio e pepe "mantecati in forma" salati al limite del parossismo e, soprattutto, sgradevolmente freddi. Anche le lasagne, invero, sono state motivo di perplessità e sconcerto. Del tutto prive di attrattiva estetica e manchevoli del loro elemento essenziale, il ragoût di carne. Solo passata di pomodoro. Mai vista prima. Nemmeno il vino è riuscito ad allietarci. Dopo aver scelto una falanghina tra quelle indicate come disponibili sulla carta, ci siamo dovuti accontentare di una diversa. Sfortunatamente ci è anche stata servita a temperatura ambiente, ossia insopportabilmente calda. A fronte delle nostre rimostranze ci è stato portato un secchiello con 12 cubetti di ghiaccio e tanta, inutile, acqua tiepida. Solo dopo ulteriore insistenza nel secchiello sono stati posti un altro paio di cucchiai di ghiaccio. Basiti, facciamo appello al buon senso ed evitiamo inutili discussioni. Finiamola lì. Paghiamo e via. Il conto? Quello sì, da ristorante serio. Ps Il cameriere che un po affettatamente si rivolgeva ai capi commensali dei tavoli vicini al nostro con ossequioso richiamo ai loro titoli professionali...dottore, avvocato... ingegnere... (pareva mancare solo il ducaconte...) a noi ha riservato un rozzo "ecco sciura" manco fosse in una trattoria del Giambellino negli anni 60...

Detto questo, pur essendomi ben chiaro che ciò che piace a me potrebbe non piacere ad altri e viceversa, esprimendo la mia personale opinione non mi sento di consigliare questo locale, quantomeno per il cibo. La location invece è un'altra cosa e... in gran...
