Ok, I honestly never thought I'd find good ramen in Mestre, but here we are! I am a ramen snob. So if anyone who is particular in their ramen (broth, toppings, even how the egg is cooked) I understand and I honestly scrutinised the bowls of ramen we had at the same level I do for any place selling "ramen".
The miso and tonkotsu based ramen we had was very good. Reminiscent of ramen in Osaka-rich, flavourful broth that isn't too oily. The noodles were firm, a bit thicker than my preference (no, it isn't udon sized), but over all it was really good! It is waaaaaay better than ramen in Sydney (and we've tried a lot looking for one that even closely resembles proper Japanese ramen-but that's a different story time).
The place had a real modern Japanese vibe going for it, complete with Jrock and Jpop music playing. The place fills up fast, and frequented by Asians (at least when we ate there) so reserving if you can would be ideal, specially if you're a group of more than two.
Menu is in Italian, but the staff are very helpful. Food was brought out fairly quickly.
I can't speak for the other items on the menu but I'd come back here again...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHave you ever had ramen that tasted like you were in Japan. This place is the real deal. Food: 5/5 we ordered the Tonkatsu and Spicy Chicken ramen. Both had tasty broths and the spicy chicken broth was made with chili oil. They were priced reasonably. If you like spicy food, go for the spicy chicken!
Service: 5/5 our server was friendly and offered great suggestions as we couldnāt choose what to order. The ramen didnāt take long to arrive.
Atmosphere: 5/5 the place has a cool vibe to it. I felt like I was dining in Japan with anime characters located throughout the restaurant. Thereās even a cable car inside where it feels like youāre inside one.
Itās only a couple of blocks from the Mestre train station. If you love ramen, itās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe ramen was like eating a combination of cardboard and rubber. It was bland, it did not take on the taste of the broth, and texturally abhorrent. My partner and I got both the Spicy Chicken Katsu ramen and the normal chicken ramen, and I would say avoid them. The gyoza was servicable. Atmosphere wise, the music was obnoxious - it was a lot of bad jpop love ballads, with the odd nice Studio Ghibli piece.
I think for the price of the ramen, you're better off getting a pot noodle from the supermarket. It is 5x cheaper, and 5x tastier. I do not recommend Mic Ramen, it is an affront...
