My first encounter with Venezian kitchen was this cosy little osteria chosen for its ambience and claim to venezian kitchen. I obviously made a mistake chosing the grilled greens of the season and the classic spagetti alla carbonara. The eggplant was burnt, not grilled as was the zucchini. The rest was allright, albeit not very interesting. I turned to the spaghettini alla carbonara, which turned out to not only smell disagreeably, but also to taste - my best description - as if boiled in dishwater. I told the member of staff serving me, that it tasted badly. The answer was a listing of the ingredients and a statement, that this is how they make their carbonara. My explaining that I know which ingredients go into a carbonara, since it is one of my favorite dishes, made no apparent impression. Instead I ordered a gnocchi on potatoes with basil, tomatoes and mozzarella, which was good. The bill presented by another member of staff, listed both the carbonara and the gnocchi. I asked, if they meant to charge for the carbonara, as it tasted badly. I got the same listing of ingredients, the same ignoring my informing, that I know the ingredients and my experience.
So, to sum it up, either the chef made a horrible mistake, which the serving staff did not bother to check, or the osteria means to serve carbonara tasting like boiled in dishwater. If you like that, by all means go for it. Otherwise you might mant to find another...
Read moreThis restaurant left a bit to be desired.
Unfortunately, compared to the other restaurants we’ve dined at, this ranked among the lowest.
The portions were smaller than other places.
The food was prepared the slowest here. About 1.5-2 hours from ordering.
The other tables were all given their own bottle of olive oil for the bread, however for our large party, we had to keep asking them to refill our dishes? Not too sure what that was about as the dishes were barely filled and maybe had enough for 3 small dips. Perhaps some racism at play.
There was really nothing special to note about this restaurant. It was quite quaint and cozy, as it was decorated well. However some of the dishes were bland or poorly executed. Among them, this scallop on a dollop of mashed potatoes? The flavors didn’t quite match, but the scallop was cooked very good.
The restaurant was expensive for what we were given. And with that, we did not bother waiting another hour for dessert.
I would not recommend this place. If you only have one place to eat at, here, I’d recommend the Ristorante...
Read moreDelicious food at this small little restaurant! Seafood platter appetizer was delicious, everything was so yummy. They did a phenomenal job on the mix of flavors. The ragu was also perfect. Lots of great flavors and loved the freshness of the pasta. The gnocchi pesto was delicious. It was unique compared to other gnocchis, kinda softer and “marshmallow” like. Very good!
The strawberry dessert was so yummy I would recommend!
The service was also great! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We did wait at the door for a bit wondering how to get seated. Just walk up to the bar
Recommend using mosquito repellent before coming as there are a ton of mosquitoes.
It is a smaller space though where you’re sitting close to others, so that’s my only thing. But it wasn’t really bad. Came on a Sunday night at prime time dinner and had no wait.
Thought pricing was great. Very fair pricing; I thought it was on the cheaper side.
Overall,...
