It was frankly the worst hotel I have ever been to. I feel that the quality of the trip itself has gone down by staying at this hotel. I don't usually post things like this on the internet, but I would like to share it here so that no one else feels the same way in the future.
There is no end to the number, but I will give three specific points. By the way I booked a triple room for around 300€. (This amount should be enough to get good service in other European and Italian 4 star hotels)
[① Room quality is too low] ・Multiple spider webs ・Dust accumulated on ventilation fans and furniture ・Bath full of mold ・Filled blanket full of pills (this is the only comforter) ・Rusted mirrors, furniture with peeling paint
[② Internet is not connected] ・There is free wifi, but it cannot be used in the room (505) ・By the way, mobile communication is not connected, probably because it is in the alley, so you can not use the Internet while you are in the room.
[(3) Staff response level is low] ・When I consulted about the lack of internet connection, they said, "The machines are working and they are connected in the lobby, so there is nothing we can do. If you really want to use it, go out of your room and come to the lobby." (Our room was not in the main building, but in the annex through a dark, narrow alley. It is unavoidably dangerous for a woman to pass through at 23:00 in the middle of the night.) ・In the end, it was decided that the staff would report to the manager the next morning and talk to him so that he could refund the money. ・The next morning, the manager tried to pay with a face as if nothing had happened. When he asked if the staff had heard about the night before, he said he would drop the city tax of €4. So when I brought up the matter of refunding the room fee, they said that the wifi was not included in the room fee, so it was not eligible for refund. It is clearly stated as a service on the reservation site, and when I argued that the Internet environment is now a part of infrastructure like water, he said, "Refund is Expedia's job and I can't do anything." That may be true as a refund method, but I think it's definitely the manager's job to make the refund decision if the service is not up to the customer's satisfaction. I was really disappointed that the hotel had a manager who made excuses for tourists.
This is my impression of Hotel Rialto in Venice. Right in front of the Rialto bridge, the location is certainly top notch (unless you are led to the back alley annexe). However, please be aware that you may receive an unacceptably low standard of service for a 4-star hotel in Europe. After doing some research after this incident, it seems that no one who knows the area would recommend this hotel. Venice is a small city and there are plenty of other good hotels within walking distance of the Rialto Bridge.
I deeply regret choosing this hotel for my precious Venetian night. This is the only hotel that made me feel this way in my one-month...
Read moreThis is my first time reviewing a hotel in this way, but I was really upset with our stay. Booked this hotel expecting that this was our best hotel in our Italy trip. Unfortunately, when we booked it from an external website, the images, as were on their actual website, is far from how it really looks like. The state of this hotel is old, and I get that. The room that they have guided us into was abysmal. I was in a state of shock when I went into it. The furniture was old. The TV in the room was smaller than a computer monitor. They had advertised that the room had air conditioning, and we didn't have that. The heater was an utter disappointment in the middle of winter. It was barely functioning and dirty. The mesh covering the window was in such a state of disrepair. It's already gaping open on the left side, where insects would naturally go in when it's the summer time. The smell in the small bathroom was off-putting due to the smell from the drain. The size of the shower room is also puny and uncomfortable. This was supposed to be a honeymoon trip in Italy. I can't imagine a romantic stay with this hotel. I admit it's my fault for being so excited and hasty in our reservation with this hotel, and it only taught me to really research and check the type of room we're getting. Never depend on pictures alone as they're completely misleading nowadays. The wifi in our room was terrible, too. Based from other people's reviews, I have the same sentiment as them. Also, the plugs in the room? The only option I had was in the bathroom, the wall in the middle, and that extension that looks like a serious fire hazard, which is also connected to the TV and the mini bar fridge. Seriously, please check that, it looks so dangerous to be used as it may be a fire hazard! Check the image with the mirror, that extension is already gaping at the sides and the bottom. Kindly replace that. The reception staff were not that friendly (are they unhappy about their job, I don't know). I clarified an information and he answered condescendingly or sarcastically. Also, I expected them to at least ask how our stay was, just like from our previous other hotel stays, but no such question. It's like they don't care. Sorry, Venice was a good place and we enjoyed our sight seeing, but I wish we had chosen a better hotel. I was so tempted to just get out of there during our first day and pay for another hotel, were it not for my husband trying to comfort me when he saw how sad I got when I got in the room. I was only happy when we were out in the streets and always...
Read moreWhat a let down. I booked this hotel as a treat, I thought it was more expensive than I would usually pay but really wanted to make it a memorable and special trip for myself and my partner. I booked a junior suite and all images I'd seen online make it look like the perfect romantic venetian style hotel.. Our room was large & the location was right beside Rialto bridge; the staff at reception were friendly too but unfortunately that's where the positives end for me. Firstly, the room was so smelly.. it had air-conditioning but it always smelled damp and like stale smoke, for what reason I don't know. The interiors were very dated, and don't get me wrong I appreciate traditional style interiors but only if it's well kept. The website boasts 'elegant interiors' 'flamboyant and romantic' (NOT! maybe 60 years ago but definitely not any more) This hotel was like stepping back in time and felt like nothing was being done to upkeep the interiors. I guess it's in such a prime location perhaps the owners think they'll get the custom no matter the state of the hotel. The paint was chipped on the furniture and headboard. The carpet was so old I fear to think when it was changed last, or at the very least deep cleaned. There were cobwebs in the corners and hanging from the roof, even the2 bedside lamps had different colour bulbs one warm yellow and one white blue? (bulbs are minor I know but just added to the haphazard feeling in the hotel) Sometimes the electricity didn't work in our room either, we noticed when the minibar was warm or our phones wouldn't charge.. In general the room just didn't feel clean.. not an ounce of luxury for a 4* hotel I didn't want to make a fuss as we only had 2 days in Venice so we tried look past the hotel and just get out and enjoy the city. Although looking back I wish I had turned on my heel and found somewhere else.. it was an expensive mistake. What I thought I booked was a romantic venetian hotel suite; but in reality we got a dingy dated room that smelled like a damp ash tray and felt like something from a horror movie. I honestly feel conned looking at the photos on their website and social media. Such a stark difference. So this review is a warning to anyone thinking of staying...
