Update: Went the next day, a Tuesday at 1:00pm and market was still mostly vacant still save some fruit vendors. However there were lots of birds in the area, some small pieces of dry ice on the ground, and a person power-washing the area. So perhaps there was some sort of fish market with those clues but not at this time of the day. It may be worth trying early in the morning Tue-Sat before giving up on this entirely. Hope this helps someone out!

Went Monday at 730am and the place was a ghost town. Maybe there is different hours now than what google says, but we were disappointed to make the hike and find the place vacant less one vendor...

The vibrant bustle is at its peak during the early hours. You don't have to buy anything if you don't wish to - just enjoy the spectacle.

In my opinion, the Pescaria (fish market) is the most fascinating. Inside the Neo-Gothic market hall, you'll find massive swordfish, squirming eels, soft-shelled crabs, and other fresh catches. Seagulls constantly attempt to steal, hovering just beyond reach as they...
