Osteria Cicchetteria da Gigetto — Restaurant in Venice

Most horrible experience ever! I went today to eat: I was going to go with another friend and arrived earlier to get a table. Then I ordered an Aperol Spritz and asked how I could order the tapas/bocatas/breads with specialty that I saw inside. The waiter said there was a dish with 6. I ask if I could get half or order individually (I am rather small). He immediately said: this is no bar so no, then I said I'd quickly call my friend (to see if he wanted to share or maybe he wanted something else). 5 minutes later comes the same young blond waiter (Loui Samuel) and says you have to go I need the table. I asked why and then said, it's ok just bring me the 6, I don't have to go. He went on very mad and I call my friends so they wouldn't come (I didn't wanted that they lived the same). I am mexican, 32, surgeon of doctors without borders and to be honest was pretty well dressed and in general I am super polite to everyone. We were waiting for the table around 20 min. To Make time pass faster we bought ice creams in a place next to the restaurant. When we finally could sit (I saw the free seats by myself even if waiter said he Will call us) and we sit quickly because we already waited some time and it was a lot of people around, the waiter appeared in one second and said we have to stand up and leave the restaurant until we eat ice cream. The funniest was that 3 of us Who ate ice cream already finished them. Only my 2! years old daughter was still eating ice cream. But the waiter didnt care. LAW IS LAW. Family of 5 people had to leave the restaurant because the small babygirl was eating ice cream. He informed us we can come back when the ice cream Will be finished 🤡 so of course we didnt wait another 20 min in 32 degrees on the sun until my daughter finish ice cream. Beautiful restaurant location with colourful tables and chairs in the Burano style. It’s located right next to a canal and you just can’t beat those views.

Everything else was mediocre. The cicchetti offered were tasteless. The bread was soggy and stale. And you cannot choose your own. No problem - but you’d think they’d offer you the best selection. Unfortunately, not the case. A bite of each was all I could handle. All of the offerings I received were either fish or seafood, which I love, but the freshness was questionable.

The service is nonexistent - not friendly, not rude, just not there.
