I don’t like to give a negative review but alas I have to this time. I was recommended this place a few years ago by a friend and everything was terrific on that visit, returning to Venice this year and with our accommodation close by I had no hesitation not to return, I made a mistake.. My wife speaks multiple languages and so we ordered in Italian to avoid any confusion. We asked for a particular wine which was no longer served, not a problem but no alternative was not offered just a very blunt “non” from the waiter. Food arrived incorrectly, for ease we pointed this out but accepted the meal to ease the situation, my meal (a steak) wasn’t very good, very tough in fact. The waiter was obviously very stressed, kicking empty chairs out of the way just behind us to serve another table, it wasn’t aimed at anyone in particular but made us feel very uneasy so we decided to pay and leave. Remember the incorrect food order? Well they tried to charge us for the more expensive correct one.. I know sometimes things go wrong but the service, quality of food and general treatment was too much. I wouldn’t recommend and will simply avoid this restaurant in future, shame really as it is a great location with a lovely garden...
Read moreThis restaurant is a well hidden gem! Make sure to make reservations before going there. This is a quality restaurant where local people go. The service is extraordinary friendly. They have a high quality wine choice and the food is fantastic. We went 4 times and each time was great. The atmosphere is lively in a very good sense. You MUST try their tuna-dish, the marinated pork, and their fish of the day. These are just a few examples of their well filled menu-card. The service is efficient, we never had to wait long for our food and even with a fully booked restaurant the service remained very friendly and the waiter took really time to explain us the wine-choices. He knows his wines! This is not a place for a quick hurry-up meal, but a place to show respect for great food and drinks and to have a lovely evening with friends and family. We met there very interesting people with whom we had inspiring discussions about travelling, modern art, living in Venice etc. They have very original and interesting decorations at the walls of the restaurant: card plays, cork screws etc. from many countries...
Read moreThis restaurant is off of the busy beaten path that caters to the flocks of tourists in Venice. By turning down one alley way, this eatery brings peace and quiet to a bustling tourist environment. Cornered in the back of the alley near a gelateria, this restaurant offers outdoor seating by the front awning, indoors, as well as garden seating in the back. With a party of 7, we were seated in the garden along with 2 other groups. It was shaded by umbrellas and a welcome peace of solitude during a busy day of sight-seeing and gondola rides.
The menu was reasonably priced, although there is a 2 Euro seating charge per customer. The service was exceptionally polite and catered to the young girls in our group (ages 8, 5, and 2), treating them like princesses. The atmosphere was relaxed and we enjoyed our 2 hour Italian lunch at a leisurely pace. Food was exquisite and portions were appropriate for all parties. Wonderful little...
