Beautiful historic building with high ceilings, beautifully decorated. Interesting menu with classic dishes, some of which have become hard to find. I tried the local cold cuts and the beef cheek cooked in red wine. The cold cuts were great, yet nothing special given that they are great everywhere in Italy. They're a slight variation of what they have in the next region. But this is expected and in no way negative criticism. The beef cheek was exquisite. This is cooked for twelve hours in red Amarone wine. I had a glass of Amarone to pair it with. Highly recommend this dish, for the obvious reason of the perfect, tender yet slightly resistive texture and the incredible aroma of that Amarone wine. I have often had beef cheek in France, where they usually cook it in what has got to be the cheapest wine they can find, telling from the sour taste this usually has in France. Here, the dish was divine, with very subtle aromas enhanced by the wine in my huge glass. I got a few pieces of 36 months old Parmesan as a welcome taster. Service was by 2 charming young ladies, yet the order was taken, and the bill brought by the manager. Old school. Sorry, but I like that. :-) The only thing I didn't like here was the fact that the wines were measured for volume before serving. While certainly justified from a manager's point of view calculating costs etc., it does give me, as a guest, the impression of cheapness. The manager, a very polite and forthcoming signore, did look a bit strange with that small balloon type measuring device attached to a 30€ bottle of wine in a Renaissance environment. When I pay 70 pp for lunch, I expect a little...
Read moreDuring our recent visit to Verona, we had the pleasure of dining at Dari Ristorante, a charming restaurant that truly captures the essence of Italian cuisine. Nestled in a historic building that once served as the royal residence of the King of Verona, its location is as top-notch as its food. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, enhanced by elegant décor and soft, ambient lighting.
The menu at the restaurant offers a delightful blend of traditional and contemporary Italian dishes, each prepared with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients. The standout for me was their signature pasta dish, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The wine selection was equally impressive, featuring a range of local and regional Italian wines that perfectly complemented the meal.
What truly sets Dari apart is not just the exceptional service but also the incredible owners. They are remarkable people with immense experience in the culinary world. Their personal touch and attention to detail made us feel exceptionally cared for and valued as guests.
In conclusion, Dari is not just a restaurant, but a journey into the heart of Italian culinary excellence. Its prime location in a building steeped in history, combined with exquisite cuisine, a wonderful atmosphere, outstanding service, and the personal touch of its amazing owners, makes it a must-visit...
Read moreWe absolutely loved everything about our dining experience at Dari Ristorante & Enoteca. The food was impeccable - Michelin quality (in fact even better than a Michelin meal we ate last year in Italy). We were a family of 7 including 3 children and had just come off the plane after a 24 hour trip from Australia, and then a 2 hour drive to Verona. Our waiter was such a pleasure to engage with - he was kind and patient, joked and entertained our unsettled and tired children, and at the same time professional and very knowledgeable about the regional wines. We ordered a variety of appetisers which was so filling, most of us couldn’t even finish our main meals. The wine was divine - highly recommend this bottle (photographed). The ambiance was great too - we had a table set up in an private alcove, and it was greatly appreciated to be away from most other diners, as our kids (ages 6. 9 and 11) could not always keep their voices down. Even though they didn’t have a child’s menu, they were able to make a very nice pasta for the boys, and also ice cream dessert, also not on the menu. These little touches were so greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant if you are ever in Verona. Location was also wonderful because it’s right in the historical centre 👌🏼my only regret is that we didn’t take a photo...
