We arrived late in the evening around 9 o'clock in Verona and visited the restaurant literally moments before the kitchen closed. The staff seemed a bit rushed and nervous, most likely because it was the end of their working day. One of the waiters didn't understand much English, but we managed to communicate with the other one.
The atmosphere was exceptionally authentic and pleasant, transporting you to the memories, experiences, and friendships of the owner. The food was delicious, and for the first time, I tried two new Italian desserts which I unfortunately don't remember the names of, but I'm attaching pictures.
As we were leaving, a third waiter accompanied us, who was extremely kind and gracious. Despite the restaurant being close to closing time, he shared stories about the place, showed us the chair where Joe Cocker sat, told us about all the famous personalities who had visited the restaurant, took us to their wine cellar, and showed us a Formula 1 steering wheel and equipment - the perfect ending to the evening, truly memorable. Thank you, kind person, even though we didn't...
Read moreAfter reading numerous positive reviews about this restaurant before our trip to Verona, we had high expectations. The restaurant is endorsed by the slow food group and Michelin, with various certificates and logos proudly displayed at the entrance. However, our experience was disappointing.
The interior is adorned with artificial flowers and a mix of printed images from a bygone era. We were seated in the patio, which was just okay.
We ordered two antipasti: prosciutto crudo, which was good, and smoked mozzarella with prosciutto, which was delicious. For the main courses, we had Tortellini with butter and sage (which was bad), maccheroni with wild spinach (mediocre), and risotto with amarone (bland). Dessert was passable; we tried panna cotta, homemade cake, and cherries with vanilla ice cream.
The highlight of the meal was an exceptional bottle of Pinot Grigio Amphora 2021. The price of the whole meal was reasonable at €40 per person.
Despite the fair pricing, I cannot recommend...
Read moreAs soon as we entered the door we were treated like beggars off the street. It was very apparent the waiter/restuarant did not want to be bothered with foreigners. We were seated in a small back dining room next to the kitchen and everytime we asked the waiter for something he seemed as though we were a nuisance. We had dined at Maria Callas the night before and were treated like Royalty with one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. I guess I was expecting too much from Trattoria Al Bersagliere but they were pretty much not interested in treating us properly. I wouldn't go there unless you speak Italian or are...
