I love pizza. So pizza by the metre was definitely on the to do list.

This place when you walk in looks like the biggest school canteen in the world. It's huge. It has a very industrial vibe and the decor looks like it may have not changed since the 70s.

However. What you'll also notice is it is packed with locals. Always an auspicious start. The waiters spoke English and suggested we go watch the chefs make the pizza. The kitchens are open so you can watch the chefs at work which I really liked. As a proficient pizza chef myself this was a highlight as the boxed dough was clearly well rested and pliant in all the right ways. I enjoyed watching them roll out the dough onto a board and craft those long pizzas.

The pizza itself was excellent. And good value for money - as it will feed 5 (although we managed one between four.). Wine is super reasonably priced and was also great with a bottle of Prosecco at 18 euros doing well.

I wouldn't bother with anything in the menu other than pizza. It's what their speciality is. It's like walking into a fish and chip shop to order a baked potato if you don't. But I also saw that the chefs in the other section were hard at work and the steak they served up for another table seemed decent enough.

Service - this restaurant has been open since the 30s I think it says somewhere and some of the staff seem to have also been there a while.

Don't expect the fawning and cloying super friendly waiters that some people seem to love on here "we were served by giulio who told us about his childhood on an penumbra of goat farming land and his great love of 18thC theatre. He advised us on the perfect 20€ bottle of wine marked up to €120 to go with our Lasagne ". You may need to be quite Italian in manners to get the bill, but when in Rome…

Speaking of Tripadvisor- if I’d have gone on the reviews from there this would have gone unvisited. This is one case where Tripadvisor’s super touristy angle comes undone. I don’t care if it isn’t a bijou exclusive 4 seater restaurant where the owner comes and personally chats to you. If the food is good I’m happy.

It's not touristy and I enjoyed that a lot....

During my recent trip to Vico Equense, I had the absolute pleasure of dining at L’Università della Pizza—and I can confidently say it was one of the most memorable food experiences of my life. This restaurant is famous for its one-meter long pizza, and it truly lives up to its reputation.

When the pizza arrived at our table, it was a sight to behold—stretching across the entire table, beautifully presented, and topped with vibrant, fresh ingredients. What makes this pizza so special is not only its size but also the quality. The dough was light, airy, and perfectly baked in their traditional wood-fired oven, giving it that authentic Neapolitan flavor and texture. Each section of the pizza could be customized with different toppings, which meant we were able to try a wide variety of flavors in one meal. From the classic Margherita to rich, savory combinations with prosciutto, mushrooms, and fresh local vegetables, every bite was a perfect balance of flavor.

The atmosphere of the restaurant matched the food—warm, inviting, and filled with laughter. The staff were friendly and attentive, happily explaining the menu and recommending the best topping combinations for the meter pizza. Their passion for pizza making was clear, and it made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

Sharing the one-meter pizza with friends and family felt like a celebration in itself. It wasn’t just a meal, it was an unforgettable experience. L’Università della Pizza is a must-visit for anyone traveling through Vico Equense. Five stars,...

If this is the university of pizza, someone needs to fire the professor. Pizza by the meter was the worst pizza I have had in Italy, by a long shot. I'm not sure if we got the "tourist special," but it completely lacked flavor and ingredients. Pizza capricciosa lacked any olives. The ham and artichokes were barely there. The other varieties we had were also lacking ingredients. They all tasted of the same bland taste. The crust wasn't the worst, but a meter or crust is hard to justify for $35-40.

I believe this has become a complete tourist trap. It may have been good at one time, but now it appears as an overpriced shell of a pizzeria trying to serve other dishes. It is 100% gimmick and 0% flavor. It was so bad we didn't even want to take the pieces we didn't eat.

They like to appear as a bit higher end than what they actually are. If your craving pizza, save your money and go to a better pizza place. Anyone who recommends this trap for someone wanting pizza should not be trusted. The only reason to go here would be if you have a large group (they have a lot of seating) that all want to sit around and eat bad pizza (or order...

Interesting concept, pizza by length. First thing that will happen is, you open the menu and ask yourself when the hell are they charging 34 Euro for a pizza, until you realize that the price you see is for 1m of pizza. But you don't order by a meter, you order by half a meter, so you're looking at ~€17. You can select up to 4 different types of pizza per half a meter stadium shaped pizza which will be delivered to your table on a metal wheeled serving table. Your pizza will be cut for you and you party in front of you and served by the waiter to your plate. Pizza will be cut into 8 slices, 4 quarter circles and 4 squares, where the radius of the circle equals the side of the square. How wide is the pizza if the length is 50cm? The pizza is good, service meh, and the place is way too big. It must seat hundreds of people but when we were there, there were 4 other tables seated and the place looked empty. They celebrated 50 years not too long ago and we were trying to figure out if they redecorated in 70's or 80's. Would I eat there again? Absolutely. Will I? I don't think so. Oh, there's parking downstairs, for a fair €2.

It is a pity! It is possible to order a small pizza for a single person (called pizza singola). I had high expectations for this place. Although the place is huge, plenty of seats available and staff are very friendly I did not enjoy the pizza as I would expected unfornutely. The place is very clean and there are plenty of staff working to make the place tidy and spotless. I ordered Pizza alla Nerano, the pizza is average, the dough is not soft, the cheese is good but it did not include the "fiori di zucca basilico". After the average pizza I even insist in trying their dessert the popular "DELIZIA DI LIMONI DI SORRENTO€5.00" but again, it seems they leave the dish ready in fridge so they can have a very speedy delivery but the it did not taste fresh as I would expect. The lemon taste is very weak. Again, I reinforce that it is a pity! I didn't have a chance to try the other dishes but I would not return for the pizza. If you are like me and like a very good pizza I would suggest trying the "Pizzeria da Franco" in Vico Equence.
