Me and my fiancée were really excited to try this restaurant as it appears on the Michelin guide. While the atmosphere and overall spot was quite amazing, we have been quite disappointed with the final experience.
Bread and appetizers (that are included from the moment you sit at the table) were good and original. I took the veal tartare as a starter which was quite good but could have used a bit less mustard one the preparation as it was taking over other flavors. Then, my fiancée ordered the fried cod and I ordered the turbo fish (rombo): this was the disappointing moment as they brought me the wrong dish (tuna). It took them almost 15 min to come back with what I ordered and thus making me and fiancée not to eat in sync (the moment my plate arrived, she was almost done). This was even more disappointing because there was literally only one other couple at the restaurant at the time.
Then, about the dish itself, it was clearly lacking in deliciousness with the fish being a bit dry and the sauce really not what you expect from a restaurant in the Michelin guide.
Because we were also staying at the hotel the restaurant is located in, we could benefit from a 10% discount that I realised afterwards was not counted. But as they agreed to not count my plate in the end in the final bill, I will raise a little bit my rating for the service. Still I think it was quite overpriced for it was compared to other fancy restaurants in the area. Was not on the standards we are used to and especially the ones during that trip (try Di Sole di Luna which is 9 mins away by walking from the hotel: it is less expensive, also has a gastronomic menu and stunning view, and clearly a more complex...
Read moreWith enormous expectations my family and I decided to have dinner here - seeing the Michelin recommendation and all. To start on a positive: the atmosphere was lively and the view astounding. The drinks were worth the price and the service friendly. But, and theres a big but, the foods ratio to price was a big disappointment. To start the risotto was dry and bland while gnocchi (labeled as seafood) had nothing but mussels on the side. The seafood soup was a tomato puree with excessive salt and a lack of seafood. Funnily enough fish tempura had anything but tempura making it inedible for my daughter since she doesnt eat prawns and squid (only things included, with a suprise moth added). Luckily the tempura was refunded once they saw the moth. Dessert had a taste of staleness and was so dry you had to drink anfter each bite. Hopefully this was just a bad day for them, but we were left devastated and our...
Read moreAfter reading rave reviews (Michelin included) and a number of local recommendations, we booked a table at Mima with high expectations.
The hotel itself was lovely for a three night stay, but the food failed to live up to the accommodation and view. Undercooked pasta, bland scallops and clunky flavour combinations were complemented with unprofessional and hectic service.
Our evening was spent on-shift topping up our own glasses of wine – in an almost empty dining room, an ill-fit for the 'exclusive environment' that Mima is trying to embody. Trattoria's in the area offered higher food quality and service at a fraction of the price. Another Michelin miss in Italy,...
