My husband and I visited Il Principe e la Civetta after our previous dinner plans unexpectedly got cancelled. I am so glad they did because otherwise we never would have found this amazing place that Chef Antonio and his wife have blessed the town of Vietri Sul Mare with!
We have gone twice now because we were so impressed with our first visit. Antonio will make whatever you're in the mood for with fresh ingredients and care. We tried a Bolognese that he had prepared that day and it was some of the best we've had EVER. We finished the night with a delizia al limone to remember.
The second visit, we tried the insalata caprese con mozzarella di bufala e gamberetti al vapore. The cook on the shrimp was perfect, the tomatoes bright and fresh, the salad greens crisp and refreshing, the mozzarella di bufala creamy and delicious. Following that, we had gnocchi and steak. The gnocchi was the best I've ever tasted, perfect texture with a beautiful, flavorful sauce. The steak was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked to order. Everything on the plate bursts with freshness and flavor. You can tell when a chef is passionate about what they do and it's extremely evident with Antonio's cooking that he puts so much time, effort, and love into each dish.
The prices are very fair for the quality of food and service you get here. I'd be dishonest if I said it was the cheapest around, but I'm being completely truthful when I say it is by far the BEST food in the area that we've tried.
Antonio and his wife are kind, warm, and welcoming people. We feel that we arrived as strangers and left as friends.
Thank you Antonio and family for the food, the hospitality, and the memories we will cherish forever because of Il Principe e la Civetta! La cena era deliziosa. Speramo di rivedereci presto. Grazie ancora! - Gemma e...
Read moreThis was one of the BEST meals of my entire life (and I'm married to a chef)! The only thing better than the food, was the service by the Chef and the wonderful atmosphere. We walked into an empty dining room (which quickly filled up) and were promptly greeted by the chef. He explained the menu to us and offered us a meal to our desires. Everything is made fresh to order, if you want to change a dish or add/take away things, he is not only willing, but is more than happy to do so. He wants you to have the best experience possible and is happy to share his passion for cooking with you. The lemon ricotta ravioli was superb, as were the beef, swordfish, and gnocchi. For dessert we had cappucino, fresh lemon custard (amazing!), and amaretto tiramisu. We finished it off with some fresh (delicious) limoncello, compliments of the chef. Everything was beyond incredible! I cannot recommend this wonderful place enough, by far the best meal of our two weeks in Italy! Definitely make sure to have a meal here when visiting...
Read moreAntonio and family were so welcoming and gracious each time we visited. We were fourtunate enough to visit 4 times for supper and it was fantastic and special each time. My wife is Celiac and Antonio was able to prepare something GF each time and had no issues!! Even though he does not have the latest AIC cert, rest assured Celiacs can eat here just let them know your allergies!! Their wine selection is great and he always suggested a fantastic bottle! At our last dinner Antonio and family gave us a special ceramic Donkey to remember them by and to one day return, which we sure hope too!! PS: If you get a chance try their homemade Limencello it's fantastic!! Take care Antonio...
