Tacos — Restaurant in Vietri sul Mare

Living in So Cal, you could throw a stone and hit a taco joint. I was intrigued, so I stopped for a bite. Great concept, small menu, low overhead, etc. The tacos were 'street tacos', using warmed corn tortillas. The chicken was removed from a pot of water and then heated on a flat grill. Simple. Taste is very bland. Need hot sauce and cilantro on the side and jalapeños as an option. The Pico de Gallo was just tomato and onion, no spice (needs lemon and I know they have those). The queso (cheese) for dipping was sweet, had a sweet spice added (cinnamon?). They have a great location and the possibility to make this establishment cash-rich with a few adjustments. Great option for all food preference - including vegetarians! Davide is amazing. He offers tacos, burritos, nachos, fries, burgers, chicken, shrimps, pork, something for everyone! I’m a vegetarian and although there is nothing specifically vegetarian on the menu he offers both vegetarian tacos and burrito with beans (finally some vegetarian protein) and loads of fresh, locally sourced vegetables. I mean look at these beautiful colors!

He speaks ok English, don’t be shy to ask for more spice or how you like something. He’s a Michelin star chef so makes everything with attention and care to quality. 10/10 recommend! Grazie...

Apprezzo sempre molto le attività con la cucina a vista, è un gesto di trasparenza e in questo caso di coraggio, ma suppongo non potessero fare altrimenti per una questione di spazio. Ringrazio quindi questa possibilità che mi ha consentito di vedere le fasi della preparazione. E qui arriviamo a ciò che mi ha portato ad un giudizio così negativo (non ho messo una sola stella perchè mi auguro che da questa recensione aggiustino il tiro). Durante la preparazione dei tacos che abbiamo ordinato, il ripieno a base di riso e carne viene manipolato con le mani per distribuirlo sulla piastra e metterlo nella tortilla, purtroppo durante queste operazioni l'addetto ha anche provveduto nell'ordine a digitare e scrollare sullo schermo del proprio cellulare, che aveva nella tasca posteriore del jeans e a passarsi le mani fra i capelli, a fine preparazione pur essendoci due addetti, lo stesso che ha preparato i tacos ha anche preso i soldi e dato il resto.

La qualità della tortilla è da supermercato, ovviamente non pretendo che provvedano a fare le tortilla da soli ma almeno scegliere un fornitore con una base migliore. La parte del ripieno a base fagioli e carne, non molto saporita, mancante di sapidità dolcezza e acidità che normalmente si percepisce in questa preparazione. Il tutto a 12€, una cifra che non trovo adeguata al prodotto. Per quanto riguarda l'ambiente, Vietri sul Mare è una bella località, il locale purtroppo è a ridosso della strada piena di macchine parcheggiate, ma nonostante questo non toglie una piacevole atmosfera mediterranea.
