Compared to many Japanese restaurants I've visited this place is actually a decent size and can accommodate more customers than I would expect at first glance. Once you enter, you'll need to order from an old-style push-button machine. Be warned, the machine is in all Japanese. Using Google translate in this situation can be a challenge, especially in a popular place like this, a line may form quickly behind you so the pressure will be on. On the plus side the older gentleman sitting next to the machine is super friendly and will help you out if you're struggling. Just take his advice and go with #1, you won't be sorry. This place has the best tonkatsu I've ever had. The pork was cooked perfectly, it was tender and juicy, the crust was very crunchy even with the sauce on it. The sauce is out of this world, I could drink that stuff all by itself and I'd be happy. Price wise this place is very affordable, the #1 was under $12 USD, which is a great value for a freshly made meal. If it isn't obvious, I highly recommend this outstanding...

Read moreTontei's morning cutlet is open from 9am! Traditional Aizu dishes include pork cutlet and rice bowls with sauce, as well as tonkatsu. Why is pork cutlet with sauce so delicious...? The key to the flavor is the "special homemade sauce" that we have been using since the restaurant first opened. We have been adding more sauce since the restaurant opened in 1972, so the juices and fat from the pork cutlet come together in the sauce pot, creating this flavor. This "mellow and creamy" flavor is unique to pork cutlet and rice bowls with sauce. Enjoy our delicious pork cutlets, which we are proud of, in our Japanese-style restaurant. Try our new menu item, the "Yae Uma Sauce Katsudon," named after the 2013 NHK Taiga Drama "Yae no...
