焼肉瑞園 Yakiniku Zuien — Restaurant in Asahikawa

Found this small family Yakiniku restaurant in Asahikawa. You know you're at a local restaurant when there is only local patrons with only Japanese menu and owner speaks no English.

Although it is a bit smokey inside, the food is to die for. Amazing cut of meat with very cheap price. We ordered nine serves of variety of meat (wagyu, beef tongue, pork, cow intestine) and total bill comes to only 9100yen. For the quality and freshness, it's a great deal.

Very down-to-earth, non-commercial place. The family who runs the place is extremely friendly and were patient to explain the menu to us eventhough they couldn't understand English.

I had the most fantastic BBQ experience here. It’s a small and cosy place. The owners may not speak much English but the hospitality we received here is simply amazing. And most importantly, the food is absolutely superb and value-for-money. My family made it a point not to repeat restaurants during our Hokkaido trip but we came back twice for dinner here. Highly recommend!
