We paid for a Superior Triple Room for our little family of 4 (both our kids are under 6yo and can stay with us for free, but I figured a mid-journey splurge so my husband could get a better sleep with his own bed would be nice) but arrived to a room with only 2 beds made up and the 3rd bed bare, with a note saying they’ll charge us a further ¥8000 if we try to use it - puzzling considering we booked a triple room for its 3 beds, otherwise I might as well have booked a double room and saved my money right?

We also paid extra for “Breakfast Included” which usually means ‘for all 4 of us’. But no, reception kept asking for more payment so my older child can eat with us. For a child who has not touched much of the other “breakfast included” hotel buffets thus far? No thanks (he ended up sitting through our Omo7 breakfast with none of the food of interest to him anyway). Disappointing they even badger about it, when they’d marketed an included breakfast with the room.

The biggest horror was that they mistakenly charged me for someone else’s booking on top of my own (¥42,900 x2 is no small sum) and I wouldn’t even have realised it had they not badgered me about the breakfast charge! They said I hadn’t paid for my booking yet so I believed them. After putting through the payment, they started asking about the child breakfast fee, which made me bring up my booking confirmation to point out “Breakfast Included”, only to realise I’d paid weeks ahead for the room.

The look of horror on the receptionist’s face when he realised he’d charged me for someone else’s room was almost as horrified as my own! With their limited English, it took multiple staff to communicate the issue and hours to ‘fix’ the charges - the extra charge is still pending on my credit card at the time of writing.

I couldn’t get the names of staff as all nametags bear only Kanji, so I can only identify them by sight not names. Just my bad luck this receptionist went home before this billing issue was even settled.

After multiple visits to reception to rectify the billing and dispute the breakfast and bedding (they don’t tell you that reception’s phone extension is ‘2’ by the way!), they eventually agreed to waive the ¥8000 make-your-own-bed-with-linen-hidden-under-the-bed fee, but by then my poor exhausted husband had fallen asleep with the 2 kids so the 3rd bed still stands bare and unused.

My experience of their public bath was cut short by all these issues, but lucky me, I still had 50minutes to “relax” before it would close, it being 11.10pm by the time reception conceded the bed fee. The place was deserted since normal people don’t publicly bathe so late. Their shower is hilarious, you have to manually pump it up and down to get water through the shower head before it cuts off every 8 seconds. I lost count of the number of times I was caught off-guard and had to grope blindly for the lever, since my eyes had soap dripping in. Cost-saving exercise masked as environmentally-friendly.

Overall a disappointment, we’d only stayed there for a few hours, unless you include the time we wasted at reception. Hopefully they sort out the payment problem as I fear Google-translate-communicating with them...

-the hotel was chosen due to its marketing for skiing/snowboarding.|-Its a 5-8mins drive (or taxi ride) from the JR station.|-the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.|-The Superior room I stayed in was spacious.|- The facilities of the spa are very similar to what I experienced in europe, having a warm jacuzzi, sauna, lying down hot tub, a walking pool of body temperature, and a cold water pool. |- the waxing station is a highlight for skiers/snowboarders. There is a heated iron and all kinds of waxes. It's particularly attractive as I could not find waxing shops in the town (some ski resorts did provide waxing service). |- There is ski rental in the hotel but mostly powder skis (ski rental was found from an upstairs shop cum guest house within 5-8 mins walking distance).|- The hotel promoted free shuttle buses to 4 ski resorts. In fact the buses are local buses, while the hotel provided coupons to guests who had made reservations. So these buses were not direct buses between the hotel and ski resorts. So in fact thats was not what i expected from the marketing material. That said, the travelling time was a bit long but it did post in writing and we thought the travelling time was acceptable. |-I have not tried the meals, but my friends who booked the breakfast package said the breakfast was very good. |- About room cleaning, garbage would be taken away and new towels provided every day, but tidying would be done on Day 4 and Day 7.|- The staff were super helpful. Due to some misunderstanding I had not picked up my skis in the hotel. I only discovered the problem when I arrived at another hotel for my second part of the journey. They then very kindly helped to dispatch the skis via courier. During the course they had communicated with me over the phone (i am not a local and we talked in english) and by email. When I tried to thank them by writing to their management, the staff refused politely saying they were happy...

Stepping into OMO7 Asahikawa in October is like entering a whimsical, yet refined autumn wonderland. The hotel’s commitment to its local roots shines through, from the delightful Halloween décor to the quirky concierge team, each donning animal masks that pay homage to Asahikawa’s natural inhabitants—squirrels, rabbits, and even the elusive Ezo deer. These playful touches make every guest feel part of the seasonal festivities. The rooms are a modern take on casual luxury, offering just enough space for comfort without compromising on style. The raised platform bed is a clever design element, providing practical storage underneath and adding to the room’s sleek aesthetic. A standout feature is the open-air lounge on the fifth floor, an unexpected retreat furnished with contemporary pieces crafted by Asahikawa artisans. On chilly evenings, guests can cozy up next to a real bonfire, fleece blankets at hand, savoring the warmth after a rejuvenating sauna. Though the public bath boasts a modern, serene ambiance, its popularity can be surprising—on one evening, I found myself queuing for a shower cubicle, an unusual experience in such a tranquil setting. But any minor inconvenience was quickly forgotten, thanks to the small, thoughtful touches scattered throughout the hotel. Most memorable was the welcome drink station by the concierge, where Haskap juice—served from a bear motif faucet—offered a burst of refreshing, tangy delight. Breakfast at OMO7 is all about quality over quantity. The buffet may not overwhelm with variety, but each dish, from seasonal delights like salmon on waffles to the perfectly creamy scrambled eggs, feels lovingly curated. It’s a modest spread, but one where every bite counts, making the start to each day a little more special. OMO7 Asahikawa manages to balance fun and sophistication with effortless grace—truly a hidden gem for those looking to explore this lesser-known corner of Japan in style.

What a terrible experience. Booked this hotel on booking.com (which was already paid online). The hotel charged us again and it took more than one hour for them to sort out the matter. My family wasted precious time just waiting for them to sort things out on our holiday. In terms of the room, I’ve booked a triple bed. The 3rd bed didn’t come with linen/blanket and you have to pay an additional 8000 yen and set it up yourself. Moreover, the room is not fully renovated. The toilet and entrance door are recycled from the previous hotel. Even the Aircond is from the old hotel system, not cold and not strong. Even some of the shower levers in the public bath were not working. You would think that by paying this much for a hotel, you would get what you paid for. For my family, my wife was really pissed because the reception made us pay twice and then wasted our time for the refund process, hotel room was not really ‘new/renovated’ and worst of all we paid for a triple bed room only to find the 3rd bed does not come with linen/blanket and we have to pay extra for that. What is the point of the 3rd bed then? Oh yeah, their TV is also not a smart TV, so my son couldn’t watch his particular cartoons. Also, on booking.com, it said breakfast is included for a triple bed room. They only issued vouchers for 2 adults and insist I had to pay for my kid (1 child). I showed the reception staff my booking and said ‘breakfast included for triple bed room - meaning 3 people’ but they still insisted we pay. I think you can understand why my wife was upset and how this spoilt our holiday experience. Please do the right thing and avoid this hotel as they will try to find a way to charge you more. Note: we didn’t end up using the 3rd bed and paid for my son’s breakfast buffet as my wife refused to allow this hotel to scam us into paying more. We lived in cheaper hotels and they were way better than OMO7

1km from JR, 1,000¥ for daily parking, always with annoying kids, promise to do every 3 days cleaning - but nothing showing up, and never been change food menu. Friend recommend me as she used to stayed one night here. Well, yes, one night is more than enough. Talk about pros, room is good, look, however not much, clean but I’ve found million dusts floating around once light is on, and also million of dust collected by window pane. By the way, room is considered be good, but sofa and TV is completely out. TV is very small and capable only 720p in whatever world own a 4K standard. They provided event by evening which seem sound a time wasted to foreigner because over all set in Japanese. Sauna at B1F is completely hopeless as we might better have hot bath - I’ve been for 6 nights and don’t ever imagine to try. Breakfast is OK, with their legendary Tuna with horseradish bowl - but everyday the menu always be the same -make a stay more than one night turned to be boring morning. What I don’t like is; Parking is 1,000¥ daily at their contract Times car parking at 8 locations, it’s extra cost you might have to paid if you’ve been by car. Kids! Yes, they are cute and lovely but not in large quantity. This hotel had more than 100 kids staying with their family. It’s pretty annoyed. If you seek peace - run away from here. Cleaning, like I’ve mentioned above. They promise to clean for each every 3 days - we’ve found nothing but a fresh towel in daily replacement. Food menu, it’s good and nice quality but never ever change in any for the whole staying week. I’ve been to Asahikawa for trice or least twice every years, so, if you’re travelling with JR - this place is about 1km from JR.
