A MUST TRY in Atami. Recommend the Kaisen don (biggest picture on the menu). 3 ways to eat: 1) with shoyu 2) with sesame sauce 3) with dashi (my favourite way!) The (sea bream?) dashi is creamy yet not heavy, and warms you from inside out. Call the staff and ask for "dashi kudasai" (dashi, please) when you have ~half-a third left of your kaisen don.
Note the restaurant for ala-carte orders is on the 2nd floor; the 3rd floor seems to offer buffet style.
How to queue: there's a machine on the 1st floor, to the left of the entrance. Enter the restaurant (2nd floor) and the number of pax. You will get a QR code, after which you can leave and shop around the area. The link from the QR code will tell you how many pax is ahead of you, and also when you can start heading back to the restaurant when it's nearing your queue number, so keep checking or enter your contact details to be notified.
Once you see the message for you to head back, do so and go to the 2nd floor, where there's a physical queue. There's a staff who will be calling out the queue numbers, so knowing basic Japanese numbers will be useful. If not, just ask the staff. In the meantime, decide on what you're going to eat. You will order before heading to your seat.
A staff will explain how to eat, and also help you take a picture. Service is...

After all,you can’t expect to take our money and still treat us like we’re beneath you.
My Japanese friend and I were both very polite. Even though Japanese isn’t our native language, we made an effort to communicate respectfully in Japanese.
If you’re coming for the food, tbh not worth it at all.And with the kind of SERVICE we experienced, you’d be better off grabbing something from the 7-Eleven...
Read moreThere is always a line up in this place, even on a Wednesday! They have a ticket machine at the entry and if u register with them, then they will message u when your table is ready. We tried to go at lunch time but the line was a bit long so we left. We tried again at dinner at 1730pm, it was much better with no line. Unfortunately they only serve sashimi buffet for weekday lunches, so we ordered from the A la Carte menu. The sashimi bowls was fresh but nothing surprising. The Otoro was very good quality tho. They had self service water and tea...
