cafe SHU — Restaurant in Beppu

I like it here. Really good vibes, poshy, beautiful interior design. The guy who took my order spoke completely fluent English and was helpful in avoiding plastic cup use per my request. Mochi matcha was ingenious. It’s like bubble tea but mochi version. Also had the mochi which was noms. And my mans said the coffee was extremely sophisticated as well as elegant, fragrant, and oishii. The coffee beans are locally roasted in a nearby neighborhood.

Coffee and dessert was a bit disappointing considering it was attached to a hotel and the good reviews.

Cafe late was too milky. The mochi drink was too sweet. The dessert was alright at best.

The ladies took ages to make the drinks more than 15 minutes despite we were the only customers there.

The space was very spacious and relaxing. There are different areas for different moods. The footbath area outside was a plus, though...

My daughter and I both tried the iced matcha. The matcha is top tier! It wasn't too sweet and very creamy. We also tried the black sesame and strawberry dango--the dango has great flavor and nice, chewy texture. The interior of the café has a peaceful aesthetic. Lots of seating. Would definitely come...
