Very chill Ryokan in the middle of Beppu. It is located about 7 minutes from the train station, so within walking distance. The hotel staff is very helpful and the food was delicious. There is an onsen right in the Hotel, giving you the real Beppu experience. You can either use the public onsen or reserve the private onsen which I didn't try since I only stayed one night. The beds in the Modern Japanese Tourist rooms are very comfortable.||Now the flaws:|The onsen seems to be outdated and the walls look as if they need some cleaning since a while, the mirrors in the onsen are cloudy and give you a dirty feeling. The water temperature was to high for my taste. Since there are no rules hung up at the walls unexperienced chinese tourists just walked straight into the bath withou rinsing themselves off, for me it was fine since it was my 3rd onsen ever, however an experienced onsen guest could consider that as wrong and not hygenic.|Moreover, I have a fear of Spiders, I walked into my room and I had to see a spider sitting ontop of my bed which was already a downturn. Additionally, the walls are very thin making it hard to sleep at night espacially when guests upstairs have a good laughter...||However, I give the hotel 3 stars because the breakfast (japanese style) was very delicious and the staff was very very friendly, the rooms were tidy and the bed...

Only my first night at the ryokan and I am leaving an early review because I'm just so impressed! Firstly the elderly gentlemen who checked us in was super lovely and brought us up some sake to our room when he forgot to give it to us during check-in. The room itself is so comfortable and has the traditional touch of the tatami. The room also has a separate toilet and shower, which is not always available at smaller Japanese ryokan. There definitely has been renovations made to the toilet and shower room which was very nice. We also booked the private onsen for a very small fee, and it was pure bliss! Highly recommend booking into this ryokan when in Beppu.

This is a follow on from my initial review. We stayed total of three nights and this is such a lovely Ryokan, particularly their staff. Our breakfast each morning was soo delicious and we were attended to with the epitome of ometenashi. My partner is vegetarian and they happily accommodated this which is amazing as alot of other larger more expensive ryokans would not!The private onsen is a must, but if you do want a break from the bath, the shower in the room is really spacious with...

good value for money! would definitely stay againlocation: it's relatively further from the station , around a 8-10min walk. there is a 7-11 just around the cornerroom: my room came without a bathroom but for the ladies are 3 cubicles shared among the 7 mix gendered guests on the floor. i did not have to wait in line at all. there was more than enough space in the room to open my suitcase wide and still feel comfortable. bed and pillow was a bit hard though, and you can hear anyone talking loudly downstairs outside the building as the room is on 2nd floor, tho that doesnt happen very often. food: amazing balanced breakfast that changes everyday - really delicious!onsen: the one on 2F was smaller than 1F, but very good and comfortable. clean too. you can book a private onsen room for 500yen (50mins) staff: all of them were super friendly, helpful and made me feel welcome. there are english-proficient staff available...

I really enjoyed staying this place for 3 nights. It was a reasonable price, and semi private room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Onsen I booked family bath for 500 yen (limited price) for once. It was nice and peaceful for 50 mins. I wish I could have hot bath options and hot springs was 24 hours, for me, it was quite low temperature bath for both public and private. The bath close 0-6am. Few things I wish the futon was more soft, my back was bit sore, but nice Japanese experience. You’ll need to wear the headphones with TV, during the night there was a noise by public spaces, so I’d recommend to bring ear plugs and eye mask. There was a mosquito, I used the machine to kill it in the room. Bike for free rent for guests, very close to hot springs spots around, bus stops, and close to shopping mall. I’d come back to stay there again for sure.
