The Mure Beppu is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The lobby is spacious and well appointed and includes their cafe Shu, which is a Dango and coffee shop. There is an Ashi-Yu (foot bath) just in front of the lobby and Cafe Shu where you can enjoy your Dango and drinks while enjoying an Onsen foot bath. There is also free parking if you have a car!
The rooms themselves are incredibly spacious by Japanese standards and are so well appointed. Each room has its own bathtub where the Onsen water is being pumped into your bath. So instead of bathing in normal water you can bathe in Onsen water at any time. It’s such a luxury. The bath in our room was big enough to fit me and my wife with enough space for our daughter if she choose to join us.
They also have more Ashi Yu on the roof as well as two private, semi open air Onsen that you can book for an additional cost. We did a private bath on the first night and it was 1.000 yen and we had the other Onsen to ourselves for an hour. My wife and daughter usually have to split up with me when we go to an Onsen so it was such a treat that all three of us got to bathe together.
Their are some quirks about the hotel to know about:
As an international students studying at APU (a local university in Beppu), I recommend everyone to try MURE Beppu. It opened in February 2023. In my opinion, it is the best cafe in Beppu. If you are visiting from other cities, it is also about 12 minutes by foot from Beppu Station. This cafe has coffee and Japanese sweets. I am so grateful of their hospitality. Because I am not fluent in Japanese, I was afraid to talk to the baristas at first. However, the baristas are not afraid to speak English to me. The price of coffee is comparable to Starbucks, but the cafe is far more spacious. If you are looking for a cafe where you can talk to the baristas, this is the place for you. The baristas and front desk clerks are super friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed lots of amicable conversations with them. If you have a chance to visit MURE, I bet the first thing you will feel is its atmosphere. The interior decorations, lighting, and music is very classy. In Beppu, there aren't many options for students to study, so I love studying in this cafe. Most importantly, you can enjoy coffee and light dessert while resting your feet in the foot onsen.
I was very lucky to meet and take a picture with the owner.
Thank you so much for being so kind to me. I look forward to visiting again...
Read moreJust a 10-minute walk from Beppu train station, MURE Resort offers a serene escape. We stayed for one night, as the hotel was fully booked for the rest of our trip. Check-in was seamless, and language was no barrier thanks to a handy iPad-like device that translates live as you speak. Our one-day stay felt like a blissful paradise. The aesthetics and decorations of the resort exude a comfortable, zen-like calm, with extensive use of wood in the interior design. We stayed in the “Hinoki” room, which was spacious with high ceilings and mood-enhancing lighting that fostered a sense of tranquility. The bed was perfectly firm, ensuring a restful sleep. The in-room bath/shower and hot spring were excellent, comfortably accommodating two adults. The water, rich in healing properties, left my skin smooth and muscles relaxed. We also enjoyed the half open-air onsen hot bath on the rooftop. Soaking under a starry night sky was an incredibly blissful experience. The resort uses high-quality products, from high thread count linens to Dyson hair dryers, ensuring a luxurious stay. Upon check-in, we were treated to complimentary “dango” mochi desserts, which were among the best I’ve ever had in Japan. We absolutely loved our stay at MURE Resort and look forward to...
