The Best Hotel Experience for a Solo Traveler in Beppu! As a solo traveler who has explored Japan for years, I can confidently say that this hotel stands out as the absolute best I've experienced so far. From the unbeatable location to the superb amenities and, most importantly, the incredibly caring staff, my stay was nothing short of perfect. 📍 Unbeatable Central Location The convenience of this hotel's location truly cannot be overstated. It places you right in the heart of Beppu, making it the ideal base for exploration. Everything you need is literally just a footstep away: The main bus stop and ticketing office are right there, providing effortless access to the Beppu Hells and other sights. Tokiwa Beppu Shopping Mall, a major department store, is essentially across the street, perfect for shopping, gifts, or picking up local snacks from the basement supermarket. The JR Beppu Station is a quick and easy 10-minute walk away, connecting you to the rest of Kyushu. The surrounding area is filled with an impressive variety of restaurants and eateries, so you'll never run out of dining options. 🛌 Spacious and Comforting Room Japanese hotel rooms are famously compact, which is why the size here was such a pleasant surprise. The room was noticeably bigger and more spacious compared to other hotels I've stayed at. Beyond the size, it was immaculately clean and incredibly comfy. A wonderful touch that truly made a difference was the personalized notes—a thoughtful detail that made me feel genuinely welcomed and valued as a guest. ♨️ Outstanding Amenities and Onsen The hotel offers a wide range of fantastic amenities, with the onsen facilities being a clear highlight: They feature both outdoor and indoor hot spring baths, perfect for soaking and relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel also has a dedicated relaxing area that boasts an awesome view of the sea. Sitting there and looking out over Beppu Bay was the perfect way to unwind. ✨ The Truly Caring Staff: A Special Thanks While the physical hotel is excellent, it's the staff who elevate the experience to the next level. The level of service and care was exceptional. I want to give a special and heartfelt shout-out to Airi and Amami for their wonderful hospitality. Airi, in particular, showed an incredible level of attention and care: when I arrived, I was delighted to find that my luggage had already been brought directly to my room. This simple gesture of going above and beyond made my arrival completely stress-free and is the perfect example of their dedication to guest comfort. Definitely highly recommended! Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay. I will absolutely be planning my return here on my next trip to Beppu. During a recent trip to Kyushu, we planned to stay in Beppu over the weekend and soon discovered that hotel rates tend to be high for stays on Saturday night.
Fortunately we found Hotel Aile which was a bit over our usual budget but still good value and a great experience.
When we arrived we were surprised by how large the room was compared to other hotels we'd stayed at in Japan 🗾. The room and beds 🛏️ were also comfortable and we had a nice view from the window (a partial seaview and we could also see the yacht club and the mountains).
We enjoyed the small shared lounge and the observation bath on the 10th floor and particularly enjoyed the outdoor rotenburo bath on the rooftop which had a great atmosphere and views of the coast and city.
A hearty and healthy breakfast was provided in the morning which we really enjoyed.
The only issue was an occasional wait of 5-10 minutes for the lift 🛗 but this was not a big problem.

Read moreThe location is good with nice ocean view and easy access to shopping center, department store and park. The hotel itself is a bit aged, but it is well maintained by a group of young and energetic staffs from many countries. The staffs are very friendly and most of them can speak in fluent English, so communication is definitely not an issue. The breakfast is well-prepared and you may sense the chef has put his heart onto it. One more thing to add is that my son caught a cold and front desk staff was very very helpful in helping us contacting local clinic and explaining the condition to the doctor. Only one thing I would recommend is that as the room is spacious, the hotel may consider to add baby bed as an option upon request so it would be more attractive to family guests who bring their baby traveling. We will stay here again if we are going to travel in Beppu...
